Re: Atlanta area meet anyone?

Had another thought about somewhere to meet. Does anyone think the World of Coca Cola would be interesting? Or Stone Mountain? Just looking for sites of interest.

Re: Atlanta area meet anyone?

We went to the Coca Cola museum a couple of years ago... right outside Underground. The best attraction/tour we did was the CNN private tour for about $25 per person. Got to do a tv "demo", met a few of the anchors, went backstage, etc.

Just another idea.

Sundays that are good for me are 9/26, 10/3, 10/10, 10/24, and 11/7. I'm game for either Stone Mountain or World of Coke! Or McDonalds! I'm easy!

Re: Atlanta area meet anyone - UPDATE:DIXIE PASSPORTER MEET!

I wish I could make this one, but seeing as though I am going to WDW in 17 days, It will be a bit tough to make this meet. I am also saving money for a big trip next year.

Re: Atlanta area meet anyone?

OK, Here's a suggestion. How about we meet at Stone Mountain on either Oct. 17th or Oct. 24th and do the tour of Southern Ghosts. I've done this for several years and it's really fun. They have story tellers at various points in the Antebellum area and they are all telling ghost stories. Now these are not scare your pants off type stories that would give your kids nightmares. These are professional (or semi professional) storytellers and are really good.
Also the last day of the Scottish Highland Games will be the 17th. Check your calendars and let's plan something.

Re: Atlanta area meet anyone?

There is a possibity that we're going to be out of town on the 17th - that's why I didn't put that date down. The 24th looks fine with me. But, if it looks like the 17th is more the concensus, then I'll see about changing my plans.

The Stone Mountain thing sounds good!

Mary Ann, I love this idea and our kids would probably get more out of the ghost stories than World of Coke. Also, we wouldn't have to get into the midst of downtown Atlanta, a plus for me!

Re: Atlanta area meet anyone?

As long as it's not 9/11 - 9/18, I can be there. I'm going to Myrtle Beach that weekend. There's a great resturant in the Perimeter Mall called Maginano's (I think that's how it's spelled). It has the best Italian you'll ever eat.

Re: Atlanta area meet anyone?

Ok, I'm loving the idea of meeting you guys in Atlanta and I especially like the Ghost stories possibility.
One request that may seem trivial to many of you, but I would really love if we could refer to this meet as something other than Dixie as it brings up some negative connotations and perpetuates a stereotype I (and a couple of other Passporters) am uncomfortable with.

Perhaps since we're meeting in Atlanta, we could call it something as simple as Hotlanta Meet or tie it into our final destination of choice... The Passporter Ghost Tour?

I really don't want to offend anyone here and hope I'm not stirring up a hornet's nest but appreciate your feedback.

Re: Atlanta area meet anyone?

Oh we can call it whatever we want to! It never dawned on me that the term dixie caused a negative connotation and I am very sorry if it offended you! I guess I just meant "south" when I said that. SORRY!

Little More Info

Thought I'd add a little more info on the Ghost Tour to help you make up your mind. Here's the link:
Tour of Southern Ghosts
Just to let you know, the money goes to help the Arts Station which is a non-profit arts center located in Stone Mountain Village. Let's decide soon so we can all start making plans.

Re: Little More Info

Mary Ann,
The tour sounds wonderful, entertaining for both adults and kids alike. Unfortunately, if we meet on a Sunday evening, for those of us traveling 3+ hours, we probably will need to spend the night and take Monday off, which means we wouldn't be able to bring our school-age children with us.

I think I'm going to shut up now because I feel like I just keep adding more and more of my two cents' worth to this venture and it's not my adventure to decide. I'll just sit back and if it works out, fine. If not, that's okay too.

Again, thanks for the link.
