Cub Scouts is doing wonders for DJ's self-confidence. Because of his speech problems, he is sometimes shy when speaking to other children. (Anyone who met DJ at the PP meet in October can attest to the fact that he has no trouble carrying on a long conversation with adults.

) He's really coming out of his shell these days!

He trick-or-treated for UNICEF this year and came very close to meeting his goal of $50. (My thanks to our PassPorter friend who made an anonymous donation...

Knoebels 2008 - Pre-Trip Report pg. 4

One week from right now, we'll be pulling out of the driveway to make the 2 + hour drive to Knoebels.

Today is the day we start filling out our packing lists. (A PassPorter's Club e-Worksheet.) I give everyone the same list and they check off what they want to bring and pencil in how many so all I have to do is go through their closets and dressers and count out what they want to bring and toss it in their luggage....

It's "Stay"cation Week on the Travel Channel. Staycation has way too many meanings.

1. Staying in the country and exploring the U.S.'s natural and scenic wonders to save on air fare.

2. Staying in-state and making an abbreviate road trip of all the places you always wanted to, but never got around to seeing.

3. Staying "close to home" which could mean on your half of the state, in your county, in your watershed,...

Made the final payment yesterday on our dues for the cottage this year.

It was kind of funny. When I called, the lady who handles the dues payments recognized me by name and asked about the kitten we rescued during our trip last year! I was amazed to realize she didn't just remember us as our kitty's new family, but our new kitty girl's name, too.

One more reason to love Knoebels. It's like being Norm and walking into Cheers....
