Do Over

Posted 01-18-2012 at 05:41 PM by Kelly66
If I could do it over again, I would not try to take a course (Extended learning from my own college) outside of the ones offered by Disney. There are way too many learning experiences and productive ways to spend your time while on the CP. I noticed many students had done the program more than once. This would give one an advantage. To me the first few days were an overwhelming (but way fun) whirlwind of excitement. Knowing what to expect would only add to the magic!
A Word about Abbreviations - I have noticed that DCP seems to mean Disney Consumer Products, so here I try to put CP for College Program.

Another Do over is that I would have gotten my photo pass before I had to abruptly leave the CP after only 6 weeks (due to a family illness) I am sad that I was not able to get any of those pictures. Remember, there are no pics backstage allowed, so those photo pass pics are worth it. I think the people who had been on the CP before definitely had an advantage. Just by having gone through all the steps before, they had the opportunity to enjoy the first few days (even weeks) as things go by at lightening speed!! For parents, as long as you trust your own child, I would definitely recommend letting them do it at as young as they are able and hope they can get another CP under their belt before they graduate. More with regards to trusting your own child, please remember that Disney Housing is a safe community, if your child tells you he or she is uncomfortable with something one of his or her roommates is doing, please advise them to tell housing authorities immediately. What happens in one's apartment is the responsibility of everyone in that apartment. From keeping the company culture positive to keeping the young people out of trouble, I found that Disney respects people who stand up for themselves and for what they think is the right thing which follows the very clear guidelines set forth. ENJOY.
