Beer of the Day - 11/13

Posted 11-13-2008 at 02:17 PM by RobDVC

From Dogfish Head Brewing Company in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware comes today's beer - Raison D'Etre.
It is a deep, mahogany ale brewed with beet sugar, green raisins, and Belgian-style yeast. As complex as a fine, red wine. Voted "American Beer of the Year" in January 2000 by Malt Advocate Magazine.

8% ABV

Tasting Notes: Notes of pit fruit, decadent, winey, raisiney, malty

Looks really interesting! Ok so my DW and I gave the Scotch Ale a try and did like it...Though I think our fav from that sampler has to be the Irish Red. Did you like that at all?

The Irish Red wasn't a stand-out in my book. It tasted like a bunch of other Red beers I've had. It was decent, though.

    Rob,

I hope you see this as the post is old. At Thanksgiving, my cousin brought some of Dogfish Pumpkin Ale. I'm not a big beer drinker, but it was really good! Not too strong of a pumpkin taste either. In fact, I was bad (bad mom, but it was a holiday) and let my DS17 have some of mine. He loved it! Not bad for a kids first beer!
