As a little kid visiting Disney, Space Mountain was one of my bigger-than-life memories.

One of the unfortunate things about blogging every day for a year is that sometimes your head is in a wierd place. I got a PM from a PassPorter this week, and it got me to thinking. Today I'm thinking about broken treasures.
I had bought all five of the Disney Christmas lawn ornaments a few years ago. Well, somehow, the Minnie was smashed to smitherines in the basement. Looked like something from the slasher movie Saw. It was kind-of a shocking sight!

Today I watched Harold, the subject of my book, walk out into the snippy pre-blizzard air with 45 copies of the book. He was with his daughter and he was on his way to see Avatar.

I could find some way to tangentially relate this comment to Walt Disney, but I'll let the Disney theme slide for the moment. The legend that I do seem to relate this thought to is Sisyphus, the Greek God who was cursed to roll a big boulder up a hill over and over again. Every time he got close to the top, though, the boulder would roll back down the hill. And this process would be repeated...

A silly PassPorter group goal was to be the last guests to ride Space Mountain one evening. Tara, SuperDave and I met that goal. The cast members whooped and cheered as they boarded the car behind us and, let me tell you, I never heard a happier group of screamers as we rode the attraction together.
