Christmas at Seaworld

Anyone been to Seaworld at Christmas time? We have been to Disney many times at Christmas but not to Seaworld. Do they do a lot of decorations and play Christmas music? I know they have some holiday meals and shows but what about the atmosphere? Any info would be appreciated. Bigred

They had a gorgeous tree out front last year. It is decorated for the season but I would say the park has a more subdued holiday theme than Disney parks. Still, lots of nice touches throughout- character Shamu in a Santa suit is one of our kids' favorites.

There are also some holiday celebrations but I haven't gotten much info from the Passport website yet- I know they do some special fireworks too. We are really looking forward to enjoying it during December and plan to spend several days over our break there!

I remember quite a few nice decorations - as Maureen says, not as extensive as Disney, but you certainly know it's Christmas and I seem to recall hearing Christmas music there as well.

Hi!

We went in 2005 and they had decorations and music. They also had a special Christmas with Shamu presentation nightly, in addition to the regular Shamu show... plus their luau had Christmas music and theming.

Enjoy!
Deanna.

Sea World Celebration

Christmas at Sea World is lovely! The park has been stepping up their celebration over the past few years. The decorations are extensive - Sea World is no Disney, but they have been working at extending trees and lighted decorations throughout the park. If you really want to enjoy the celebration, stay into the Evening. The center of the event is at the WaterFront. A stage is set up there, and there is live entertainment constantly; there are usually 5 or 6 acts in rotation, including 2 acapella groups and several live musicians. The streets are decorated with lights, and it snows at park closing. There's a wonderful Santa for children to meet, and he's usually accompanied by several "elves" who take over the street in front of his "house" and play interactive games with any children or adults who pass by. In past years, Sea World has hosted a special Shamu Christmas show (A Child's Wish) featuring live musicians and the music of the TransSiberian Orchestra. The quality of the show is inconsistent; the first year we saw it, it was amazing. The following year, the stunts and coordination had been cut back (one of the whales was pregnant, and an injured trainer at another park may have been a factor). There is also a special Christmas Luau show, if you're interested in that... my husband and I think it's a better show than the usual one.

Overall, Sea World at Christmas is a wonderful day trip. It's not Disney; in my opinion, Disney kinda "owns" Christmas in Orlando, but it is a magical event, full of beauty and wonder. Hope that helps!
