Waterparks and Modesty About This Page:

We are planning a trip to Orlando in Aug and one of the places we'd like to visit is Aquatica Waterpark.

My friend and I are modest about the way we dress. Our religion does not allow us to wear bathing suites or things that would show off our body. Does anyone know or have experience with the rules of wearing t-shirts and stretch pants. Has anyone tried to do that and failed? Do you think they will be able to accomodate us or should we just skip the water park altogether?

I've known people at water parks who wear t-shirts and no one seems to mind. Believe me, I don't want to see them without a shirt! I know at Blizzard Beach, they don't allow your swimsuit to have any buckles, buttons, belts, chains, or anything else that may damage the slides. Stretch pants should be fine if they don't have these things on them.

One comment,instead of a cotton Tee, I would consider a tee shirt made of a quick dry material, I think it would be way more comfortable. Enjoy, I'll be visiting in Aug too!

You might consider 'rash guards' or sun protective clothing!

We've seen a lot of t-shirts and shorts too but I agree with the post about finding tops that are made of quick dry material or something that has lycra in it. From what I've seen, the t-shirts just get so soaked that they get real stretched out, just hang off of folks and need constant wringing out. There's lots of work out type clothing that is made of quick dry material etc. There are lots of surf shirts out there too, both short and long sleeved. Look at landsend.com or in one of their catalogs for them. I don't know about the adult versions but the kids are made of that rash guard mentioned about and have an SPF rating. Aquatica is great, we were there in March and had a lot of fun.

I've seen a fair number of folks dressing modestly at the Disney water parks for (apparent) religious reasons. It shouldn't be a significant issue. Your plans sound fine. Definitely try to find synthetic garments, for the previously mentioned reasons.

I just returned from Florida, and my daughter has fair skin, she wore the short sleeve swim shirt(old navy) and long board shorts(boys bathing suit) that came to her knees, and she was fine.

At my local pool there are a number of people who cover up for sun reasons. They seem to wear clothing specifically made for the pool (lycra blends) that have long leg pants and long sleeved and high neck shirts.

I found that out in May when I visited Aquatica. I had just my swimming trunks and no shirt. I didn't use sunscreen. I got a bad sunburn that lasted a week. I was so itchy and I felt like Goldmember because my skin kept on peeling!

Definitely wear a t-shirt or slap on lots of sunscreen!

Several companies offer sun-protective wear that might work for you. Solumbra Sun Precautions,30+ SPF Clothing) has water legs and water shirts on page 36 of their catalog. Solartex (Sun protection - UV Sun protective clothing, sun protection swimwear, sun hats, sunglasses, rash guard shirts, rash guards, modest swimwear, sunscreen, water shoes, and flotation device swimsuits by Solartex) offers similar items on their website. There are many others. Search using terms like "protective, sun, clothing, swimming."
