Been to Arabian Nights... meh.

IMO, it depends on what you enjoy and what your expectations are. I'm not a crowd gal; I like my personal space, and I like theatrical entertainment (I theatre).

My DH and I went to Arabian Nights for an anniversary. We were kept in a large holding area w/ a gift store and alcoholic beverages for over 1/2 an hour while the crowd grew to a point where we couldn't really move around much. A country singer provided some entertainment from a second story platform. We were then ushered into a stadium seating area where we were seated in forward-facing rows with a counter-style eating space. The food was okay, but it was served in the dark (duh...it's a dinner show), and the fat in my prime rib turned me off. The show was cute; the horses were gorgeous. But beyond the pretty horses, I wasn't impressed. I'd rather go see the Beauty and the Beast show over at DHS - at least there I'm getting talented vocal performances and a good story line.

Other folks I've talked to loved it. They enjoyed chatting with people at their counter, and they loved the audience participation portions where you're supposed to yell and stamp your feet. Maybe I was just disappointed b/c it killed the whole "anniversary romance" thing. Maybe I was just expecting more of a "big show" for the price. Maybe I'm just not into the crowd participation thing... Regardless, my DH and I decided that for the price of the tickets, we'd rather do a Sea World luau or a different kind of show.

We saw Arabian Nights last October. We had heard really great things about it - really set our expectations high. I almost feel badly saying it, but we were disappointed. The food was not good that night. The show was difficult to hear and follow (not a good story line!) However, the horses were wonderful to watch. If you are a horse fan, it has much to offer. We would not pay to see it again.

i think with the reviews i have gotten here, we are not going to go. I would rather spend the time just walking around the parks and finding hidden mickeys or secrets or just taking in the atmosphere.

I would SO go again~~!!!! We loved it!! We did purchase tickets from undercover from the link in the mousesavers email and so the tickets were very reasonable. We picked them up across from Universal, and when you call to make your reservation they ask if you want to do the VIP. Now it was a VERY slow time of year and we most likely would have been seated in the first three rows anyway but I purchased it very cheaply. I think VIP for us was like $15. THis allows you to go right in, while others are waiting in the gift store you are ushered onto the floor where you can sit on the black stallion, talk to some of the actors and get great photos, and visit the stalls. We got to watch one of the women paint her horse for the show. I can not say the story line is great but the horses are beautiful! All the actors were plesant and we got to see the gift store afterwards. I am torn about going because of finances but we loved it SO much! Do the VIP if you can. It made it even more special. We spent from like 6:30 or so till 11 in there. You have to be a bit early for the VIP section I think. I have served food at several conferences for several years and am a food lover. I have to say we were surprised at the food. It was good and I just had to remember to eat instead of watch. We really enjoyed it and I highly reccomend it.
