We would like to spendtthe day at Discovery Cove but won't be visiting Sea world or Busch Gardens this trip. Is it possibel to purchase just the one day pass without including the other places?

I don't believe so!! It looks like the DC pass includes a 14 day admission to SW or BG, but at this point, there is no way to take that out of the ticket, according to the FAQ. Discovery Cove :: FAQs & Park Tips

From the FAQ:

Product Inclusions
The admission packages to Discovery Cove are all-inclusive. Therefore, admission includes the use of lockers, wetsuit, towels and mask during your stay, free parking, shower amenities, souvenir snorkel, complimentary entry photo, continental breakfast, lunch, all drinks and snacks, access to the Explorer's Aviary, Coral Reef, Serenity Bay, Wind-away River, a 14-consecuative day pass to either SeaWorld Orlando or Busch Gardens Tampa. Our guests select in which activities they would like to participate. At this time, we do not offer customized packages for guests who chose not to participate in selected activities.

WOW! That is kind-of annoying. i could hardly spend a whole day at Sea World. Discovery Cove, though, is AMAZING! Get there early and relax all day if you go.

We will go to Sea World for 1 day during our next vacation. Even going that one day helps me justify spending the money for Discovery Cove. It's a bummer you won't be going to the other parks, but I'm sure you will enjoy DC
