Any thoughts on Seaworld??? We are leaving for WDW in just over 2 weeks, and I am thinking of taking Mackinly to Seaworld for a day and maybe doing the tour where you get to feed dolphins and meet a penguin and don't have to wait in line for shows, etc...What are your thoughts? Anyone been to Seaworld? What were your likes/dislikes? Anyone do a tour? Any thoughts would be appriciated! Thanks!!!!! ![]()

Re: Any thoughts on Seaworld??? My mom & I did a tour at Sea World a few years ago. We did the shark tour where we got to pet a shark. It was okay. We learned alot about how they care for the sharks and we got to see the filter system for the tank. Petting a shark wasn't a big deal it was basically a small harmless shark in a tank and you could stick your hand in a pet it ![]() Honestly Sea World usually isn't that busy so waiting in line is usually not something that is encountered. Every time I have gone the lines for rides (there are only 3) were short and went quickly. In fact my sister, cousins and I rode the roller coaster (Kraken?? I think it is called) 6 times in a row with no wait! We road Journey to Atlantis 3 times in a row with no wait! This was in late February. The stadiums where the shows are presented at very large and finding seating isn't a problem. Honestly if I were you I would not spend the extra on the VIP treatment...just go enjoy the shows and wonder around on your own. It is a pretty easy park to do in one day. BTW there is a pool where the dolphins swim around and you can buy fish to feed them. Although you get just as good an experience by standing next to someone feeding the dolphins. It is very cool!

Re: Any thoughts on Seaworld??? We went in Oct 2004 and we had a lot of fun. We took the bus from the ttc to Sea World since we were staying on Disney property and didn't have a car. Robin is right that you can have a good time without paying extra for special tours. We saw the dolphins where you can feed them and we also fed stingrays and sea lions. You just pay for the food and go to their tanks. We also walked thru the shark and penguin exhibits. The thing I remember most was my dd & her dad rode Journey to Atlantis and at the end of the ride when they come down the big hill there are water guns that you can put a quarter in and water shoots out of different spots and the riders don't know it's coming. Well the guy next to me was really good so when my dd and her dad came down I pointed them out and he soaked them with water that shot out of a rock. It was soooooo funny watching the look on peoples faces who thought they had made it through the big drop dry and then the guy next to me would get them with the water out of the rock and the people on the ride never knew it was the spectators shooting them with water. My dd & her dad gave me quite a hard time for lining them up but it was so worth it. If you can eat at the sit down restaurant called something like Shark Grill. There is a big wall of fish to watch and the food was great. Also don't miss the Shamu show those whales are amazing.

Re: Any thoughts on Seaworld??? We haven't been there in years. We did have a good time and DD got to pet the rays and dolphins. DD worked at Sea World of Ohio when it was still open and we always enjoyed going there. I miss it. Anyway, it's worth the trip over there. Liz

Re: Any thoughts on Seaworld??? I've never been there, but my parents have, and they're not even theme park-loving people! They liked it, and had fun feeding the dolphins and even bought pictures of it. ![]()

Re: Any thoughts on Seaworld??? I love Sea World !!! When the kids were little we use to go every summer (Sea World San Antonio). I think the Shamu show is the best !!! and the kids loved the dolphin tank where you can feed them. I also like the water ski show.

Re: Any thoughts on Seaworld??? [ QUOTE ] Yes, My thoughts are that there is sea life there. ![]() boBšoš [/ QUOTE ] Glad to hear about the sea life! Liz, I also grew up going to seaworld in Ohio! I do miss it. I didn't know what to expect at Florida though. Maybe we will just go for the day and bypass the whole tour thing. Thanks for the advice and information.

Re: Any thoughts on Seaworld??? Be sure to ride the Polar Expedition ride. It's a really great simulator ride. It was the first one we got the kids on and I think it beats both Star Tours and Body Wars. The Penguin exhibit is really cool (get it ). Oh, and the pet show is really amazing! The only thing we didn't like is that it seems like they nickle and dime you for loads of stuff (like feeding the dolphins and stingrays) when you also pay a fairly large chunk to get in. They have to feed those dolphins anyway, so why don't they just have a limited amount of food that you have to show up early to get? And be sure to stop in at the Anhizer tent and get your free beer. They also have a great group of Clydsdales there too.

Re: Any thoughts on Seaworld??? We took DS when he was five in 1998 and bought the tour package where you pet the penguins and go behind several of the exhibits. The problem is that they can't promise the animals will be in view even when you go "backstage". And many of them were not. Petting the penguins was by far the best part of the tour but not worth the amount of money we spent, in our opinion. At 5, DS had more fun picking up lizards (they're everywhere) than anything else, including the shows. Even Shamu didn't make as big as impression as picking up the dozens of lizards he caught throughout the day. For us, it wasn't as much fun as either the WDW or Universal parks so we haven't been back on subsequent trips. Maybe one day we'll try it again.
