01/18/2009 First Time! Cruising! Disney Wonder 4 Day Cruise Hello from Ellen and Makayla Mills. I am a single mom cruising with my four year old daughter. This is our first cruise. It is a present from santa, so I must stifle my excitement! It would be great to have someone to share plans and/or advice with. If you are cruising, I would love to hear from you. My daughter loves to make new friends, so if you have kids around her age, say hello. Talk soon, Ellen

What a beautiful family you have! I love the Animal Kingdom. The first time I walked towards the tree of life, I almost cried! We will be staying in room 7629, this is a category 11, maybe since we booked far in advance our fairy godmother will wave her magic wand and upgrade us! I see you live in Texas, if your kids ever want to see a ton of snow, please visit. We are gearing up for winter, our home is Buffalo, New York. Check out the feedback on what to wear, as I did get some responses that are very helpful. Let me know what you decide for excursions, I hear mix reviews on the Bahamas, some say stay on the ship. But, people rave about Castaway Cay. I am thinking about the dolphin excursion but don't know if Makayla is too little yet. Thanks so much for your reply!

| Thanks for gracious invitation. My kids freak out at the thought of snow. Don't see it much here. I have decided against the Dolphin Excursion for this trip but only because I didn't want to be away for the ship that long. I figure we are only doing 3 day cruise need to get most out of what we have already paid for and DH didn't want me to overplane and exhaust everyone. So just planning on hanging around ship. I do want to get of boat even if just for short time to see some of Nassau but not sure if will do actual excursion. But I am getting so excited!! Can hardly wait... Have a great day.

Hi, Ellen! Me and mine are also on the 01/18/09 Wonder cruise. And, funny thing, it will also be a suprise Christmas gift for my kids! But they're a bit older. . .DS is 13, and DD will have turned 12 about a month earlier. This will be their first cruise; DH and I did our first this past May and LOVED it. We've got a family cruise booked for Aug 09. But I mentioned a possible Jan 09 cruise to my parents and BAM it was a done deal. It will be my parents' first cruise, also. So I guess I'll be the "expert" LOL! (DH won't be with us due to limited vacation time from work.) My parents and me/kids will be in adjoining cat 10s on deck 2 (can't remember the numbers right now). Oh, boy, am I looking forward to it!!! Melinda

Hi Melinda, This is so exciting! What was your favorite thing about your May cruise? Your kids will be so thrilled about the trip. How wonderful of your parents to plan this. Do you plan to do any excursions? Can't wait to chat more about upcoming plans. It will be here before we know it! Ellen

Wow, favorite thing about May? That's a tough one, only because we loved it so much. If I had to pick one thing - the couples massage on Castaway Cay. But, really, my favorite thing wasn't a "thing" at all. It was relaxing. Having a drink on deck on a lounge chair. Relaxing poolside in the adult-only area. Floating in a tube at the adults beach. DH and I had just done 5 days at WDW and had had a wonderful time. But we were tired. So when we got on the boaty-boat, we made a conscious decision not to overschedule ourselves but to only do what we wanted to do, when we wanted to do it. Would you believe we actually cancelled our Palo ressie, because we didn't feel like dressing up? But I don't regret it one bit - it was the right thing to do at the time. Plus, gives us more to do that's new (to us) on our upcoming cruises! We did go to Atlantis on our Nassau day, to the water park. Expensive, but a whole lot of fun. I hope to go again in January with the kids - they would LOVE it!

Well, our plans for this cruise have totally changed! First, we figured out the family cruise for Aug09 had to be cancelled - DS plays soccer and will have started on the high school team. So we decided to add DH to the Jan cruise, plus add 3 days at WDW for just us (me, DH, and kids). We're really going to miss having my parents with us. But we're looking forward to our upgraded stateroom - we moved into a cat 5 - yea verandah! Anyone else cruising on the Jan 18 Wonder?
