Our crew is me, DH, DS14 and DD13. We booked a few weeks ago, too, when the awesome rates for a GTY12 stateroom were available; we booked two. We've since been moved, for a $150/room charge, to adjacent cat 9's on deck 2. We're REALLY EXCITED!!!! This will be the kids' second cruise, DH's third, and my fourth, all on DCL. It'll be the first time for all of us on the Magic. Actually, this is a "replacement" vacation for us. We were scheduled to be at Fort Wilderness in our camper the week after Christmas. But then DH was in a motorcycle accident and broke three ribs and his collar bone. The docs predicted that he would be "healed" right before we were to leave. BUT. . .I was worried about having to make the 12 hour drive myself. And DS has been on crutches for 3 months after breaking an ankle. So, while DH might have been ready to camp, I figured once I made it to Christmas, I would be totally exhausted!!! And while I love camping, especially at WDW, there's also a certain amount of work involved. So, I conviced DH that camping at WDW wasn't the right Christmas vacation for us this year. And, when I found the awesome deal on DCL's website, I knew what would be!!! I can hardly wait for my week of relaxation in the Caribbean, on the Magic!! I literally, every day, think about the cruise. It's getting me through these months! How about you? Have you cruised with DCL before? It looks like your DD11 and our DD13 will be in the same club. Our DD will have just turned 13 two weeks before we board.

Upgrades are great! Hi Sandra: We started out "in steerage" as my husband calls it, but have gradually wormed our way to to Cat. 4. The travel agent did email that a "suite" was available for about $8,000 more, but thought that was a lot to pay for a wall! We have already registered Kit Kat (7) for the Oceaneer Club. Disney emailed me that on this cruise 11 year olds go to Oceaneer Quest. Alia (11) is disappointed because she wants to go to the Teen Club. We have been pouring over the Passporter Guide to Disney Cruise and the promotional DVD. Last night we had a picnic in my bedroom while we watched the DVD. We are all looking forward to a week of vacation - no meals to cook, no dishes to wash, a place to send the kids! We have done Disney World every year but first time on the cruise. Hope everyone in your family is patched up enough to enjoy all the activities! Teresa

First cruise - yea! I think you'll all love it. And Cat 4 - that's great! I totally agree - 8K for a wall is a bit much! I guess you'll be on deck 8, right? We've been on deck 7 a couple times and really enjoyed it. Very easy to slip back down to the room for a libation refill then return to your poolside lounger. As a mom, I'm actually a bit relieved that Grace won't be in the teen club. It's not that the kids were wild-and-crazy on our previous cruise; the worst behavior I remember seeing from the teens is running up and down the hallways on a scavenger hunt! But they are older kids, high schoolers, and a full week in their company for a 7th grader could be a bit much I think. Does Alia facebook? If so, I could ask Grace if she'd like to meet another girl who will be on the cruise, and they can get to know one another a bit ahead of time. Grace was in the tween group on her previous cruise; she could share with Alia the types of things they did. Melinda

Alia & Grace Hi Melinda: Busy week here, then Hurricane Ida preparation kept us hopping today. It has been downgraded to Tropical Storm, but still had to bring in all the patio furniture, secure all the lawn toys, and put up hurricane shutters just on the leaded glass in the front of the house. I'll see about getting Alia a Facebook page tomorrow, Tuesday, since school has been cancelled. That should keep her busy! Lots of rain so far but no wind. Keep your fingers crossed that Ida will blow herself out! Teresa

Teresa, were you able to get Alia a facebook page? If so, I'll get Grace's information and send you a PM. I'm glad Ida wasn't too horrible. We had a TON of rain last week; our local river just dropped back below flood levels. Everyone I know except me spent yesterday afternoon cleaning up their yards. This is one of the silver linings to our current medical issues - the two men of the family are incapable of raking yards! So I get to hire someone to do it. Money well-spent, says me. I can't believe we're only a little more than 4 weeks off! Yippee!

H Melinda: I just tried to get Alia a Facebook and My Space page but she is too young - 13 is the minimum age. We did put her on Twitter, which she can only access if Mom or Dad is with her. We are getting very excited about setting sail. It'll be great to get away. Any special plans for Thanksgiving? Cheers, Teresa
