nervous for what reason?
We went on our first cruise in 2011 on the Magic. We had so much fun. We had a few excursions, but otherwise no plans, and it all worked out. It was just my husband and I. Stayed in Standard Stateroom and it was perfect for us.
Don't be nervous! I know it's hard after planning so much for WDW vacations to 'go with the flow', but I think you will find that there are so many activities and fun things to do, everyone will have a great time! You can get your 'planning fix' in each evening after getting your Navigator detailing what is available the next day. Hint: take a couple of colored highlighters to highlight those things that are of interest to you or someone else in your family...maybe take a color for each person even. The activities are laid out in a grid, broken down in Adult, kids, clubs, family and character appearances! We always spend a little time each evening looking over the activities before we go to sleep!
Relax, have a great time! We are hooked on DCL....
Is anyone else going on the Fantasy January 25, 2014 to the Eastern Caribbean? It would be nice to meet up.
I am! This will be my 19th Disney cruise and I've sailed on all four ships. I am sailing with a friend. My hubby finally cruised with me earlier this year, but he is "not into Disney" so although he enjoyed it, he won't be going again.
There is no need to be nervous! Since it is your first cruise, it's best to relax and take things as they come. As was mentioned, check the Navigator you receive each evening, then plan your activities for the next day. As a first-timer, you won't be able to make advance reservations for adult dining, port adventures (excursions), etc. until 75 days ahead. If there is no availability at that time, be sure to check on embarkation day, as they hold back some spots - especially for adult dining (Palo and Remy). But even if you don't get what you are seeking, you will still have a wonderful time, as there is much to see and do.
I don't have children so can't give advice in that area (I'm assuming you have kids?), but if you have any general or "adults only" questions, feel free to ask!
I know this thread has been inactive, but in case anyone stumbles upon it who is not on other threads for this cruise - - These are a couple of onboard meet-ups for adults without children or those who may want to get away from them for awhile.
DAY: Saturday (embarkation day) TIME: 10:00pm (or immediately after 2nd seating dinner) LOCATION: La Piazza DETAILS: Brief meet to see who's who. (Margaritas anyone?)
DAY: Monday (a day at sea) TIME: 3:00 pm LOCATION: Cove Café DETAILS: Coffee and chat? Tea & chat? (sweet snacks available)
NOTE: For anyone who doesn't know, the drinks are not free but the snacks are.
My husband, mother and myself are going on this cruise also. We were married 10 years ago when my parents had their 50th anniversary and invited the whole family (18) along. 10 years later, we still talk about it.
Since this is our 10th I wanted to go again. Unfortunately my dad is not here to go, but my mom is and she wanted to go on a Disney cruise again. Of course, we are taking us with us. I agree with other people who wrote, relax and enjoy. If anyone is unhappy, then something else is bothering them. So much to do for all ages and kids will be well taken care of so you can have some free time to yourself. Even if it is only an hour a day to walk around the deck, DO IT!
I hope to meet with you while we are on the boat together. Get the cruise book online if you haven't purchased it already. You would not believe how much info is in it! It will help you plan what you want and don't want to do.
I am so glad I bought it. There is so much in it that I didn't know before and am looking forward to doing.
