I'm looking for a good Point-N-Shoot Digital camera for our 8 y/o DS... It doesn't have to be super-cheap, but not terribly expensive either. I've been looking at an Olympus FE-210 at Sam's for $119.00. It has 7.1 MP, 3x optical zom, 2.5" LCD, 7 MB internal memory.
I asked a similar question in June. I just tried to bump the thread so you can see the answers. If it doesn't show up, a search should find it (if keywords don't work, I'd check for threads started by me, because there aren't many).
Unfortunately, I can't give you any advice on the subject because we ended up not buying one for DD
I just ordered two off of e-bay for our boys. My 11 year old got a Powershot S330 for our 11 year old for 46.50 and order 2 rechargable batteries from Amazon for $25. It works find but the battery did not seem to hold a charge so I ordered him a new one. For the twins I bought a Powershot A410 for $43.82.
They are 7 and took the camera to grandma's and took pictures all day and are able to take and delete pictures. I looked at Cannon camera since that is what I have and understand. I thought this would be a good start, a small investment and a way to save film.
Most any digital will work for the kids. I always recommend one with a "beefier" body as it's going to get dinged.
We gave an older Canon A85 to our 11 year old granddaughter to take on her summer vacation and she had a blast. Seems like they had to burn 2 or 3 DVD's of all the pictures she took for her to bring back home...
We loaned another one to the 5 year old next door and she had lots of fun with it, and it is always interesting to see the world through their eyes.
I'd steer clear of the "pocket size" cameras as they are hard to hold steady and are easy to lose.
I've had great luck with the Canon, Sony, and the Olympus brands, but whatever you get them, they will have fun!!!

Just a thank you to Carla and Carolyn for bumping up the thread - and to all the wonderful advice. I was just about to post a similar question and glad I spotted this one.
I gave older DD my old one when I bought up - both Sonys.
Then, I bought youngest DD a Sony at a pawn shop. I took my own batteries and memory stick in to sample it and make sure it worked.
I'm thinking of upgrading again, and will probably just pass them all down, and get rid of the (very cheap to buy) pawn shop one.
I made sure we all had the same brand of camera because they're all about the same to use. I wanted to make sure I could help them out if they were having problems.
