| DH and I are thinking about the Nikon D60 as our anniversary gift to each other. It's the kit with two lenses (18-55 and 55-200) on sale for $849 this week. Most of our picture taking is of the kids at various events (parties, soccer, dance) and at WDW of course! I'm a total moron when it comes to photography so I need something easy to use with quality picture taking ability. I'd also like to be able to take half way decent Wishes/Illuminations pictures - to date I have a lot of totally black pictures

| The Nikon D60 is a very good prosumer camera. It should be able to do the things you mentioned. Check out B&H Photo. They the kit for $699 after rebate. It is listed as out of stock right now, but they usually get them back in quickly. |

| I don't know anyone right now with one, but the reviews look real good about it. I think you'll be very happy with it, it's a good "start" DSLR camera, and you'll adjust to it very quickly. I will recommend you shop around for pricing, it varies quite a bit...

| The D-40 is a fabulous camera. Everyone I know who has one loves it. I'm sure the D-60 is even better. Since you already have experience with an SLR type camera (your Canon EOS Rebel XS), the transition to digital will be smooth. $849 for a the D-60 with two lenses sounds like a decent deal, but I bet there are nicer deals if you shop around.
