| Family video DS wants to have his own camera. I'm not too keen on buying a camera for a 10-year old...evn one who is as responsible as Tommy. I know I could easily give him disposables, but he loves the fact that the digital ones give him instant gratification and he can tell if it is a good pic or not. (He takes some grat ones of his sister on the trampoline) We were thinking of taking our digital videocamera as well as our point and shoot and lettinghim be our family video documentarian. I think it would be a creative way for him to see the parks. He could do interviews with us while waiting in lines, frame up shots, etc for video as well as take still photos. When we get home...DH can help him edit and piece together a nice family documentary about our Disney trip...something Nonna and Poppa and Cousin Madison could realy enjoy too. Any advice or other ideas? It is a small videocamera, so nothing too taxing for a tall skinny 10-year old to deal with...although DH will carry it when DS isn't using it.

| Sounds like a good idea to me. Maybe we will have our older son do the same thing. Just be sure to bring enough recording media and batteries!

| There are some relatively inexpensive digitals out there. If it were me, I would probably get one for him while he is this young and interested in photography. I started taking photos from the time I was around 7 or 8, and I still love photography.

| We're debating getting a cheap digital camera for the kids as well. They like to take pictures, and we'd always get the disposables, but I think the digital would be easier ![]()

| My sis bought her kids, 10 and 8, digital cameras for Christmas a year ago. She got Kodak easy share cameras that were approx. $120 each. I'm not kidding you, those kids took some of the best pictures they have from their trip to France last year. The kids LOVE to take pictures and have been responsible so far. At 10, I'd probably get him a camera.

| We gave my oldest granddaughter her first digital camera at 10, and she has been very responsible with it, as well as getting some fantastic photos!!! It doesn't have to be very expensive or very elaborate, many can be had for under $100, lots more for under $150. Check sale adds, and check on discontinued models...

| The Kodak Easy Share Camera is 99.00 at most major chains, like Office Depot. Add in another 20.00 for an extra memory card, and you also have a digital camcorder...these cameras will also take video. I bought my daughter a digital camera when she was 10, and she came up with some wonderful pictures. Sometimes your forget what Disney looks like from a child's perspective. It's small enough to carry in her fanny-pack, so she didn't have to ask whenever she wanted to use it. She would take pictures that I would never think of. And since we have three cameras going at one time, we have tons and tons of pictures, so we have the luxury of choosing only the best for our scrapbooks, and still have too many shots. |

| Thanks folks. We may just buy a camera. We will have to order it on-line as AAFES (Army Air Force Exchange Service, our department store on base) never has the less expensive models, only the $700-$3,000 range; which was why I was hesitant. Maybe we can find a good deal at Best Buy.

| Great idea! We let our then 9yr old DS take the holiday DVD last WDW trip and DF helped to edit it - great AND one less thing for me to carry! We also purchased digital cameras for our eldest two kids for their b/days so they can take their own WDW shots in Oct. Have fun!
