A Good DSLR Travel Camera Case

I ordered a Lowepro SlingShot 200 AW before our June trip to WDW as I wanted a bag that would I could carry easily in the parks, and I had read some really good reviews for this bag. Unfortunately, when it arrived, I discoverd with my short torso that is was just way too big and would actually impede my walking. I returned it without ever using it.

I was wondering if anyone here knew of a smaller bag that was both safe for the camera (mine is a DSLR by Sony) as well as comfortable for the photographer. I definitely want a bag by next June's vacation, so I've got time to research and shop around now.

You might want to consider a waist pack with an optional shoulder strap. I simply don't care much for any of the sling bags of tried in the stores. I use a Kata W-92, Video bags camera bags Kata - Manufacturer of camera bags, it holds my 30D with an 18-250 and all I need for a day in the world. The side lens pockets make great water bottle holders. What I like about Kata bags is they don't look like camera bags and the yellow interior makes it easy to find small black parts.

Cheers
Craig

Sorry to hear that the Lowpro didn't work for you. I have this and LOVE it, but I am fairly tall, so that must be the difference. I love the sling style, so I can swing it forward to use and push is back out of the way when I don't need it. I too have a Sony (a Alpha 100) and it fits everything I need + my wallet and cell phone.

I have a friend who doesn't like the sling style, but does like her back pack style. Not sure how that would fit with your frame, but you might want to try one on and see.

That looks cool! I'll have to check those out.

I also hadn't thouhgt about the backpack version of the LowePro as everyone I had talked to loved the Slingback. Thanks for the idea!

I carry my photo gear in a back pack, the Lowepro CompuTrek AW, but I don't carry it in the park with me. I use a smaller bag to carry what I need for the day.

The big bag is my preferred carry-on when I travel by air, it keeps all my camera gear and computer together. Originally, it carried one DSLR with 2 lenses, a couple of point and shoots, a digital video cam, memory, batteries, emergency power pack, and my device to read and download cards in the field (kinda like an ipod only a little larger). Of course, since then I've stopped carrying the digital video, added another DSLR, and another point and shoot, more batteries, two flashes, and who knows what else. It's still great for keeping it all together, but for park use, I have been using a smaller waterproof basic backpack.

But, aftger looking at the Lowepro Slingshot you had, I may try that. Right now, we still have Abby with us when we go most of the time and the slingshot can rest on the push bar of her stroller, keeping everything safe and protected...

Sorry I don't have an answer for you, but for giving me some ideas for me
