| Monopod okay for carryon? I can never remember what is ok camera equip to take on my person and what isn't... I never had a problem with my tripod... but for some reaosn I have a nagging feeling a monopod would be looked at as a dangerous weapon (the one I got for Christmas could do some major damage lol)... are they still okay? if anything it'd give us a fighting chance if we were hijacked

| Monopods are still sketchy, at best. On our way to NY to shoot the marathon one of my traveling companions was able to carry his on strapped to the outside of his backpack. On the way back he was told he couldn't carry it on that way. I carry a 5-section one INSIDE my carry on, with the head removed, and have never had any trouble with it. G'Luck Craig

| craig - thanks... my monopod is a hair too long to fit in my carry on so I'm still trying to figure out how it will fit (I don't want to take it apart and end up breaking it lol) but it's new and I don't want to put it in my checked luggage for fear of it being lost! *sigh*
