Tamron Zoom Super Wide Angle 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di-II LD Aspherical (IF) Macro Lens for Canon Digital EOS $259 with 30 rebate or Canon Zoom Wide Angle-Telephoto EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM Autofocus Lens $219 Please I need your thoughts

| I guess my first question is what is your primary photographic interest, and which camera do you have? Both are great lenses. The Tamron doesn't indicate that it's an autofocus, but I will assume it is. The nice thing about it is that it has a minimum focus distance of 17.1 inches throughout the zoom range. The Canon is a smaller zoom (28-105 versus 18-200 for the Tamron), and has a slightly larger maximum aperture, 3.5-4.5 versus 3.5-6.3 for the Tamron. In the long run, that may not be that big of a difference to go for the lower zoom. The glass in both looks to be good quality glass, so that shouldn't be an issue. Weight and size wise, they're about the same. I'd say that either lens would do good for you, and they are both good "all purpose" lenses.

| I have a Conon xti. When we go to Disney I only want to use one lens. I would love to be able to get close ups as well as be able to zoom in for when kids are on rides and that sort of thing. I love taking photos that really focuses on the subject and allows the rest blurry. I can't wait to get creative in WDW

| Oh, and I just wanted to say that I've never owned anything other than Canon including lenses.

| My preference would be the Tamron for that, it has a good wide angle and a good reach/zoom. I've had many Tamron lenses over the years and have never had a problem with them...

| IIRC, I have the same Tamron lens, and it's what I use day in and day out... and is the only thing I use for Disney even if I bring more lenses!

| Short Answer: Tamron Long Answer: At that price point I believe Tamron has the best bang for the buck. I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you're using a 1.6 FOV body (Rebel, any flavor or 10-50D) since you're considering a Di-II lens. If that's the case you'll probably find 28mm isn't wide enough too. I actually purchased your Tamron choice's big brother, 18-250. It's the perfect walk around lens. I also believe all Tamrons have a 6 year warranty as opposed to Canon's 1 year. Cheers Craig

| Yup and XTi is a 1.6 FOV. You already have my vote. Cheers Craig
