| Two Questions, well really one Q on two "issues" Hello everyone. I have a couple questions that may be asked all the time so I apologize for repetition. I also apologize for my ignorance!! I am very in to point and shoot cameras so my below question may be a dumb one I have an Olympus Stylus 850 SW digital camera. This is a recent replacement to my stylus verve (which I loved) that I had to put to rest due to it being dropped and it didn't recover Anyhoo, I am still learning all the new features and how to properly use them, but I am noticing a lot of my pictures are now picking up (what I think are) highlights (round spots on images or in a background) and when I take a picture with a flash it will create shadows around people or whatever I am taking a pic of. Sometimes it will appear blurry, but really it is a "shaddow" when you zoom in to see. I admit I take a lot of pictures in "auto" because I always did with my other camera, but now my shots (especially in darker rooms) now have these flaws. Does anyone have any advice on what features/settings to use on how to correct the shadows and highlights? TIA!! |

| I'll bet this shadow is to the left of your subject as you are facing them (the subject's right). This is because the flash on your 850 is about 2 inches to the side of and level with the lens. You had the same effect with your Verve, but MUCH less pronounced because it's flash was more above than to the side, which puts the shadow behind the subject. Sorry, there's not anything you can really do about it. It's a design flaw IMHO. If it's a recent enough purchase I'd consider returning it for a model with the flash above the lens. G'Luck Craig
