| New camera for the trip!! After hearing me complain the whole time on our trip last year about the lag time of our camera (ME...complain??), my husband decided to surprise me with a new camera. He came home this week with a Sony Cybershot DSC-H50. It's a beautiful camera but has a LOT of toys! Has anyone had any experience with this model? Any tips or tricks for picture taking? Thanks for your help...

| It's a good camera! I haven't played with one for a while, but I will recommend reading the manual and start taking lots and lots of pictures starting right now. Take then day and night, with and without flash, and experiment. Start in Auto mode to get a feel for the camera and then get out of auto mode as quickly as you feel comfortable. Play with priority mode, aperture and shutter. The nice thing about digital, it doesn't cost anything to take pictures, except for a little battery power!!! Have Fun!!!

I'll add in that you may also want to try carrying the camera around with you for a while to get the feel of it on a strap around your neck or on your shoulders. And try it on with any park gear you generally carry - backpack, waist bag, water bottle, hats, sunglasses, whatever - so you can tell what it will feel like to tote it around the parks all day. You might feel the need to alter your gear a bit, perhaps get a new bag or camera strap, or shift your water bottle around, or wear a different hat, or put your sunglasses on a cord, or something. It's best to test drive that stuff at home, where you have the time to buy new stuff or pack different stuff for your trip than you might normally pack. Waiting till you get to WDW can be a pain; you might not be able to shift your stuff around to be comfy without a particular piece of gear you left at home, or you might feel the need to buy something new that will cost an arm and a leg at WDW. | |
