| 6 months to practice! I posted earlier that my uncle and his fiancee are getting married in New Orleans on October 3rd. Well in her last email she asked me to be the primary photographer I am a little nervous about this because I haven't taken wedding photos before except my friends wedding where I was a just "a guest with a better camera then the hired photographer" I think I need to do LOTS of research of the different portraits! I know I need to get the basics - Bride&Groom (together and alone) - Just the guys - Just the girls - Whole wedding party - Parents of the bride and groom (with bride or groom and alone) But what else??

| google wedding picture list, there are several out there, I did this and printed the best ones, gave them to the bride to review, I also took the list with me to double check the day of Start looking at other photographers work, lots of websites, pretend you are the bride- what photo's would you want taken? One of the best shots I took at the wedding I was at was using the soft light of a east window coming in from the side onto the bride-no flash!! duh!! Take more than one camera if possible (for me it was for security back up) One of my camera's I can not for the life of me turn off the 'click' of the shutter, so I used the camera that is silent during the ceremony-no flash. | Check with the bride and groom if there are any specific shots they would like or if there are any oddities to watch out for. At my wedding I had my mum & step dad and a dad and step mum present. The photographer knew this but never check if they were ok with each other. Lucky for me they all got on. Also my step mum had to cut out of the wedding early so that she could go to another wedding to see her grand daughter be a bridesmaid. So I had to make sure he took all the family shots before she was gone. Research the location of the cermony and reception. Check there are no restrictions. Again for my wedding the photographer was only allowed to take photos in a certain direction due to the Queen Mother's house being by the church. If you can, have a practise run with friends standing in for the bride and groom to see what works or not

| See if you can find a pro that would take you under their wing. It's a win-win. You get to learn, they get a free assistant. G'Luck Craig
