Palo Duro Canyon, TX, panoramas

A few panoramic shots that I took down in Palo Duro Canyon not too long ago. For those of you who do not know about Palo Duro Canyon, it's located about 20 miles south of Amarillo, Texas, and it is the second largest canyon in the U.S. behind the Grand Canyon in terms of size. It's a beautiful place to visit if you ever get a chance.

Here's the wikipedia article on Palo Duro.

If you want to see the original sized photo, click on the image below, select 'all sizes' then 'original size'

Beautiful photos! Thank you for posting and you just made me thoroughly homesick. I'm a Lubbock native and miss my 80% sky and hiking at Palo Duro.

One is done up in HDR; as far as stitching them together, I used photoshop CS4. Very easy to use photomerge function there

I absolutely love the fact that I can drive to the canyon in less than a half hour from my place. Weather permitting, I try to get down there as often as I can. Around October, they have an event there called the Pirates of the Canyon, where they do a mass hot-air balloon launch from the floor of the canyon at dawn. Unfortunately last year, the winds were too high for the event to happen, so I hope the weather behaves a little better this year.
