| I am hoping to take as many pictures of the October themes as possible this month, so here are two more of my tries. Raining here today, so I got a shot of our birdbath. Love the splash! ![]() And an interesting view of Light w/a side of Shadow!! ![]() I decided to turn the date stamp off of my pictures for the time being. Just in case I take a really good one, I don't know that I want that date stamped in the corner. Themes checked off my list - Orange, Rain, Light.

| Okay - Betty Sue are you in my backyard?? ![]() I have that exact bird bath and we also have a "fairy ring" of mushrooms growing. Its raining here too, same cool front I believe. Your post reminded me to go take some pics. I need the practice as I am not that good.

| I just might have. Funny thing is, to get that picture of the birdbath today, I opened my back window and wove the camera through the hole in the screen that the dog tore last spring. I probably looked like an idiot!!Okay - one more picture from me today. Changing of the seasons is a tricky one for us Southeast Texans. We tend to have a really long summer then slide right over fall and dive straight into gloomy winter. So when I saw this on DH's windshield today, I grabbed the camera quickly before it all turned brown!!! ![]() Themes checked off my list - Orange, Rain, Light, Changing of the Seasons.

| Toni - you take some great pics. What kind of camera are you using? I don't think my poor little camera, even if I was the best photographer in the world, could ever take shots like yours does!

now on to your question. I shoot with a Canon Rebel XT - it's a DSLR and I was using a quantaray lens that goes from 28 to 200mm with fstops down to 3.8-5.6 most of these shots were done at ISO 800 (which would be a faster "film") and I have a lot of practice with sports photography... as well as journalistic photography in general... and I'm a portrait photographer... so it's all about composition. basically I get lucky. I know where and what to look for...

| I like everybody's pics so far! ![]() I haven't taken a lot of pictures lately so I haven't played, but since we were on a roadtrip at the beginning of the month, I took a few pictures that work into the themes. I still consider myself a n00b since I don't really do this as a hobby and definitely not as a living, so as you look at the pictures take that into consideration. Light: ![]() A sunset in Idaho Rain: ![]() Painted Canyon in North Dakota. I love how the pouring rain muted the canyon in the distance. Changing Seasons: ![]() The foothills of Alberta nearing the Crow's Nest Pass.
