| Re: What Kind of Camera? Kodak Easyshare LS753 5.0 Megapixel, 10x zoom (I think) Takes SD memory cards What I like about it: It's very small, about the size of a pack of cigarettes)but with a large LCD screen and easy to use. It has lots of different settings and can even take short videos. It also came with a rechargable battery, which I can charge by putting the camera on the dock, or by plugging a portable charger into the wall. What I don't like about it: haven't totally figured out all the settings, or when to use what setting; night/indoor pics don't seem to come out as well as daytime/outdoor pics, unless I just leave the settings on "auto". Also, sometimes there's not enough zoom, or it gets fuzzy the more I zoom in. I think these problems are more with the owner than the camera! Also, the Easyshare sotfware was a PAIN to install, and took me several tries. Overall, I'd buy the same camera again, maybe with a little more zoom. |

| Re: What Kind of Camera? Any suggestions for a camera with super-fast shutter speeds and, more importantly, SUPER fast ready-to-shoot-next-photo speeds? I am so tired of missing priceless shots of DDs b/c my stupid Nikon Coolpix 3200 takes FOREVER to get ready for the next shot. Then I'm standing there saying, hold it...smile like you were when you first saw the duck... not the same... I'd like to keep it around $300, but might be able to swing $500 if it's super-ultra fast and IS wouldn't hurt my feelings, either. |

Our current camera seems to have a mind of its own sometimes. |

| Re: What Kind of Still Camera? MAKE: Canon MODEL: Power Shot A620 # of Megapixels or film size: 7.1 MP Optical Zoom: 4X Type of recording media: SD/MMC Normal recording Mode (jpg, tiff, raw, other): jpg What do you like most: Small size and ease of use. I purchased a small, compact camera case (Lowpro, model: Ridge 20) that has a belt loop on the back side. I can wear it on my belt and be ready in moments to take photos. It protects the camera and keeps it secure. As for ease of use, the camera has programmed modes for easy shooting or if I want I can play with the settings to take creative photos or photos in difficult situations. What do you dislike: It doesn't take photos in a raw format. What would you buy if you bought a new camera now: Either a Canon Digital Rebel XTi or a Nikon D80. I wan't more resolution, but I wouldn't want to carry one of these around on vacation. One suggestion I have is to take the camera on a couple of outings before a vacation trip so you can get familiar with it. Especially if you are buying a camera to take to WDW. I learned that lesson the hard way. Once you are comfortable with a camera you will take more pictures and have fun! |

| MAKE: Canon MODEL: Rebel XT # of Megapixels or film size: 8 Optical Zoom: 75-150 IS SLR Type of recording media: CF Normal recording Mode (jpg, tiff, raw, other): jpg What do you like most: Very easy to use, even for a novice. What do you dislike: Bigger/bulkier camera What would you buy if you bought a new camera now: The exact same camera. Bought this before our last WDW trip in September 06. The pictures were absolutely outstanding. We love the fact that we upgraded to the image stabilizer lens. It helped when we were zooming and did not have a tripod. This is the best camera. It was recommended to us by a photographer that does weddings.

Seriously though, even the quickest of the high end digital point & shoots can't touch the speed of a DSLR. The point & shoots are getting quicker though. And you can deffinitely find something faster than your 3200. The newest version of the Coolpix is probably at least a little bit faster. It's just that the instant response time you're probably thinking about, can only be had in a DSLR. I actually just got a Canon G7 that's pretty quick for a P&S. Make: Canon Model: PowerShot G7 # of megapixels or film size: 10MP Optical zoom: 6X Type of recording media: SD/SDHC Normal recording mode (jpg, tiff, raw, other): .jpg only What do you like most: Small size/big punch (it's actually pocketable in loose pants/cargo pants/jacket/blazer out to dinner). IS is great. Big, high-resolution LCD. Really solid build quality. Flash Hot Shoe. Has a live histogram which really helps with exposure. Much faster than my previous Canon G cam. Large print quality is awesome. What do you dislike: High ISOs are better but still not great. All the point & shoots are pretty much in the same boat with this though. What would you buy if you bought a new camera now: I'd buy this cam again. I'd love the speed and high ISO performance of a DSLR, but they're just too big for me for 90% of the picture taking I do. If money grew on tress, I'd probly get a Leica M8, and a Canon DSLR with a bag full of L lenses. Not gonna happen on my wife's watch though

| Recent purchase & experience AKE: Canon MODEL: S3 IS # of Megapixels or film size: 6.2 Optical Zoom: 12x Type of recording media: Compact Flash Normal recording Mode (jpg, tiff, raw, other): jpg What do you like most: The flexibility of the scene settings What do you dislike: Zoom moves **very** quickly What would you buy if you bought a new camera now: nothing!! I got this camera last early fall -- and enjoyed taking many shot of the birds in the backyard (including shots of hummingbirds that are, IMHO, remarkable!) When we ventured in November to D'World, I was not disappointed! I actually have fireworks shots that look like fireworks -- using the nighttime (and not the fireworks) setting, without a tripod -- the image stabilization is great!! I also appreciate that I do not have a LARGE, HEAVY camera body and LENSES to lug around anymore -- I still have my Canon Rebel 35mm camera -- but don't know how long I will continue to hold onto it. When I got the camera, there was a deal for a free printer (canon) with it, and I thought -- yeah, right -- but it turns out to be a very nice photo capable printer as well (don't have the specs with me) -- if you are shopping online, look for bundles. |
