| First time to DW without kids Please Help! My husband just surprised me with a last minute trip to DW. We have had a very, very difficult year spent mostly in hospital rooms. He said we needed to remember joy, so DW seemed like the perfect place. He is the best husband in the world!! I know Disneyworld is not at all where he would want to go but he did it for me. That said, I need some suggestions to make this trip romantic, relaxing and most of all Joyful. We have only been to DW twice. Once Christmas mid 80's when our children were young and a short stop New Years Eve 2001 on our way to a football game in Miami. I am a planner and a little frazzeled. He booked us in the Boardwalk Inn, was that a good choice? I was told we needed reservations at the Cal Grill during a fireworks show. I tried but we are too late. Do we need to make dinner res before we go. We are DW novices and I could really use any help you could suggest. |

| First, relax. You will definitely have a good time. I personally have not stayed at the Boardwalk, but have heard nothing but good things. It's location is wonderful. You can easily walk or take a boat to both MGM and Epcot. Plus, the Boardwalk itself, outside of the resort has restuarants and entertainment and is just a fun place to hang out. Second, you really should make your reservations before you go. If you really wanted Cali Grill, you can keep calling back and see if anybody cancelled. There are many other great restaurants at WDW. My husband and I really enjoy Le Cellier steakhouse at the Canada pavillion in Epcot, Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge, San Angel Inn at the Mexico Pavillion at Epcot, Turf Club at Saratoga Springs, and Kona Cafe at the Polynesian (for Breakfast). We haven't done any of the restaurants at Grand Floridian, but hear they are all good. For a very romantic (and $$$) meal you could try to book at Victoria and Albert's at the Grand Floridian. We haven't done it, but I'd love to try it on a romantic getaway. WDW has great spas as well, if that is something you are interested in. The Spa at the Grand Floridian has a wonderful 2 hr. facial and the Rainforest Therapies at the Saratoga Springs Spa is so relaxing. I prefer the Grand Floridian spa to the one at Saratoga Springs. Pleasure Island is a great place for adults withough kids. We really enjoy the shows at Comedy Warehouse and The Adventurer's Club. Just remember to take your time, relax, take breaks, enjoy the pool and you'll have a wonderful time.

That is so wonderful of your DH, and sorry you've had a difficult year. Nothing like a trip to WDW to cheer one up! Boardwalk is a wonderful place. It's close to Epcot and MGM. Very nice place. Since you couldn't get into CA Grill, check Narcoosees & Bistro de Paris. Unlikely but also try VIctoria & Alberts. See if you can schedule a couples massage? Carriage ride would be wonderful. Ask questions here, I'm sure you'll get tons of help! I do!

| I think the coffee shop at the Grand Floridian is romantic. Even if you don't stay there at least have breakfast!!! There is also a wedding chapel near there that looks very lovely but I only saw that from a distance!!! My wife and I have no kids but just WDW! Have fun.

| My DH and I just returned from our latest trip to Disney World and our third stay at the Boardwalk Inn. We have tried other properties but always return to the Boardwalk Inn. It is so convenient and easy to navigate and the staff there is great. The carriage ride at Port Orleans was wonderful and very relaxing. We have also spent time at the spa at the Grand Floridian and really enjoy the massage. Enjoy your time being able to just look around the shops, A stroll around the World Showcase Lagoon after watching Illuminations and before walking back to the Boardwalk Inn is the perfect ending to a day. Relax and just enjoy your time together and have a wonderful trip!

| Welcome to the boards! How wonderful of your DH - and trust me, you'll have a magical time. Disney is a very romantic place. The BoardWalk is lovely, very close to Epcot, so you'll be able to walk in there or take the boat. I'm sure you'll love staying there.

| DH and I were just there a few weeks ago for a romantic anniversary celebration. We had a wonderful time. Good choice with the Boardwalk - we visited and I absolutely fell in love with it. It's on my wish list of resorts to stay at in the future. The location is great and it has a nice atmosphere. We had dinner at the Flying Fish Cafe on the Boarwalk and it was wonderful - one of the best meals we've ever had at WDW. I would highly recommend it. After dinner we headed over to Jellyrolls, a very short walk from FFC. We really enjoyed this club, although after awhile the novelty seemed to wear off a bit. We spent an afternoon touring the "world" at Epcot and had a great time. You really do get a different perspective when traveling without children. You can take more time to soak it all in. We also had dinner at Raglan Road and visited Pleasure Island, which was a first for us and a lot of fun. I didn't really enjoy the food at Raglan Road, but others seem to really like it. You will have a great time - there is so much to do for couples! You'll get a lot of information on the boards. Good luck and have a great time!

| Other Restaurant Choices! CG is a wonderful spot to view the fireworks, but if you can't do that there are a couple of other choices: Narcoosees at the GF, after dinner at Artist Point walk out to the lake at the WL or take a carriage ride at Ft Wilderness at the time of the fireworks! |

| Welcome to the boards The Boardwalk is very nice, your lucky to be staying there. Another good place to eat is Spoodles, we ate in sept and enjoyed it very much. I do think you need reservations. In Epcot Coral Reef is nice as well. There is so much to see and do without children, nothing wrong with us big kids going all time.Enjoy your vacation

| Maggie, It sounds as though we have had the very same kind of stress filled year! Much of ours was also spent in hospital rooms and clinics. Your DH sounds VERY much like mine in that he knows WDW is a place to bring you joy and he is willing to take you there even when that may not be his first choice! Isn't he wonderful?! We are going in a few weeks too. Enjoy your stay at the Boardwalk Inn - I hear that it's wonderful! There are lots of nice restaurants in that area - no matter where you go with your DH it can be romantic just because you're there with a very loving guy who wants to make you happy! Try to get reservatoins (ADR's) if possible but don't let it stress you if you can't get "the perfect" time. Be flexible and you'll be surprised at what you come up with. Have a very magical trip!

| Funny...almost everyone who talks about it, whether I know them or not, has had a rough year this year. It's so wonderful that you're going to get to go to DW and remember joy. I'm no expert, but I have learned that, when you're a couple at DW, going slow and just enjoying is part of the fun and the romance. One thing I keep hearing about and haven't gotten to try yet (although I intend to!) is the suggestion to book dining reservations in EPCOT fairly near park closing. The information I've read says that restaurants serve a little after park closing, and when you leave, you have the chance to wander much of world showcase just as a couple. I've also heard that the Rose & Crown outdoor sections offer lovely views of the EPCOT fireworks. I have no idea if those times later in the evening might not be so busy, but it might be worth a try. Good luck! I hope you find joy in just being together in such a magical place! |

| Welcome Maggie! Your story is so touching, I hope you have a magical time at WDW, you both deserve it. We had a window table at Narccoossee's and watched the fireworks from there. They also pipe in the music. It's a beautiful restaurant at the GF. YOu can take the boat over from the MK, it's more romantic than the monorail!! The folks at Disney who help you with the ADR's are pretty good I've found. If you tell them where you plan to be, and what you want they can come up with helpful suggestions. It is best to make reservations ahead of time, but don't sweat it. Did you say when you will be there? I hope you have a wonderful vacation Sue

| what time were you trying to get for the Cali Grill? We booked my parents 2 hours BEFORE the fireworks and they took their time with dinner (this is allowed and not frowned upon) making the dinner an important one when reserving also seems to help hope you get it!

| You will have a wonderful time! There is no place like WDW to put your cares behind you and enjoy each other's company! We have gone several times just the two of us and love it! Your DH sounds like a wonderful guy! Check out the trip reports....there are several that are couples. It might give you some ideas!
