Food & Wine Festival

DW and I are gearing up for our 5th trip to the World but it's our first trip w/o kids. We both love gourmet food and fine wine and are excited about our first visits to V&A's Chef's Table, California Grill, and maybe Bistro de Paris. I was delighted to learn that Epcot Food & Wine Festival will be in full swing during our stay Oct 18-25th, 2008. Can anyone share advice on how to make the most of amazing food and wine during our stay. If I were forced to make a choice, are there any Festival events that we should hit even if it meant canceling a dinner at CG or BdP?

You will have a blast!! DH and I did our first F/W Fest last year and are going back for more this year
We didn't do any special events. But, really enjoyed eating and drinking our way around the world................it gets busy at the weekends so we try and do a mid-week day or two at EPCOT.
Have fun!

Allow some meals that are just made up of snacking from the various booths - there is some truly wonderful food on offer at those booths during the festival. Also, if you stay is over a Saturday night, definitely go to the Party for the Senses. It's a lot of money, but it's worth every penny.

Really try to hit all of the kiosks! Every country has so much to share. My DH and I usually split what we get so we are able to sample more countries. It usually takes us a few days to hit everything. Also try some of the wine seminars, it gives you great info on the regions wines and usually involves free samples in most cases. Although, this may have changed since the last time we went in 2005.

make sure you find out who is on at eat to the beat, and when the other evening entertainment is on. we went last year and didnt find these out untill just before the end of the shows on the last night. so we missed out on some fun. (i did think i had done all my homework but i missed some things i think it was the stress of planning a wedding and a disney trip.) i will be looking and planning as soon as they come out this year when we return for our anniversary

Food & Wine is definitely our favorite time of year to be at WDW. The food booths are great discoveries but after a few years in a row we started expanding to special events and those really made you feel special besides being interesting and tasty events. I would suggest poking around past reviews and offerings on Deb's site - allearsnet.com - to see what might appeal to you. And then check back to see updates as the new offerings are announced.

But I'm not sure what I'D do if I hadn't already experienced the fine dining in the restaurants. That would be a tough choice. But choose your favorite restaurants and add some booth time - that should cover both.

Enjoy!

I personally would pick one sit down meal and then spend the rest of the time snacking around the world since it is a special trip for you. When my husband and I go for Food and Wine we usually snack and drink at the booths and do not do the restaurants, but I would not do that for a special trip. The food and atmosphere at the restaurants is absolutely amazing. I would just pick which countries intrigued me the most and not try everything, it is so easy to get stuffed if you do! haha! We have never done any of the special events because they take up a good bit of time, but they look like they would be a lot of fun!
