Closed Restaurant

Several years ago, when my wife and I went to WDW on our honeymoon, we used a book called Disney for Lovers. This was wonderful book for us. There was a restaurant that we both loved but can't remember the name and can not find it. I'm pretty positive it was in the MK but I don't think it's there anymore. It was Italian cuisine, sit down dining, it wasn't a pizza joint, but more of finer dining. I don't recall much more other than it was the first time I had carpaccio.. Any ideas on what it might have been??

MK has Tony's Town Square . . . Tony's Town Square Dinner - Magic Kingdom

Over at Epcot was L'Originale Alfredo di Roma Ristorante (aka "Alfredo's") . . . which is now called Tutto Italia. --- Tutto Italia - Dinner - Italy - World Showcase - Epcot

It wasn't in Epcot because the only place we stopped at the world showcase was Morrocco. I guess its possible it was in HS but for some reason think it was MK..I remember it having alot of windows and think the entrance was tucked away. If I could get ahold of a copy of the book we used 12 years ago...lol...I'd find it fast. Fat chance...
Thanks for your effort however..

allears.net has listing of current and closed restaurants. You may be able to spark a memory while looking there.

Good luck

Do you remember if it was near the entrance to the park or near the castle?

No, I don't, I looked on the closed restaurants and went over the possibilities with my wife but we can't remember. Am guessing that unless I see that book we used, I won't know. I guess it's possible it was in HS too since the restaurants that closed/changed name in MK are so few.

Sounds like it was Mama Melrose. The front entrance is tucked away in a corner.

A lot of windows, and a hard-to-find entrance suggests Tony's to me. To enter Tony's you have to go inside the Main St. Exposition Hall, and one room at Tony's is a Victorian-style solarium (similar to Crystal Palace).

Mama Melrose also fits. Carpaccio is more likely to have been on the menu at Tony's, or Alfredo's over in Epcot (that place also has a room with many windows and is tucked away in the back of the pavilion).

As several others have mentioned, it seems like the restaurant would either be Tony's in MK or Mama Melroses in DHS. finding your answer.

My DW figured it out. I was pretty far off and remembered some details differently than she did. It was the Portobello Yacht club. We saw pics of the inside and yup that's the place, the outside seems different than what I remembered. Thanks for all your effort and sorry for the 12 year old memory lapse..lol.

And yes Judi, that is the book. Even down to the year..good work finding that, I searched for the year but didn't locate on Amazon.
