Just hubby & I will be tripping to WDW 9/1. I'm a confirmed WDW fan; he's a tolerator for my benefit. What a wonderful husband! Therefore, I'm trying to make this as good for him as I can. I am thinking about breaking the days up with other activities (miniature golf, boats, etc.) so that it won't seem like soooo much theme park. However, I'm wondering if by going back and forth from resort, to one park & then another (morning at one park, evening at another) we will end up spending more time on WDW transportation than vacationing. Will I have trouble really seeing all of a park if I don't do it all on one day? We are arriving on Monday and leaving on
Saturday and staying at AKL. Any ideas for planning for adults and not to be missed activities?

DH and I have done four trips without the kids...with our fifth also on September 1 of this year (we leave on the 9th and are staying at our favorite resort--Coronado).

We ALWAYS break up our day. Now, we do rent a car and drive to each of the parks, but I don't think your using Disney transportation will add a great deal more of time to your traveling back and forth. We usually go to extra magic hours in the morning (if available) and leave right before or after lunch. We either go back to the pool for a swim or a refreshing cocktail and we'll sit in a hammock, or we will rent a boat or go to Downtown Disney for shopping. Sometimes we will just drive to a different resort to look around--especially those we have never visited. We usually then either have dinner or head back to the park for dinner and more rides. We wait and do mini golf after we are done at the parks for the day when it is a little cooler. I am very fortunate--my DH loves Disney, if not more, than me.

We did the -stay in one park all day - thing. While it worked well for us, I think you'll find that most people do what your refering to - "split days". Do what works best for you!
Depending on what parks your going to and what resorts your traveling to - travel time can vary widely. I would also be concerned about spending a lot of time just traveling- but since its just the two of you, you will be able to move a little quicker and I think you'd be ok.

We usually break up our days for some "out of park" activities and it works fine for us. Things we usually do include swimming back at the resort, perhaps renting a boat at one of the marinas, some shopping at Downtown Disney, La Nouba and some meals at restaurants at the various resorts - our favourites include the California Grill, Boma, Artist Point and 'Ohana.

I can tell you that it's very relaxing to hang out by the AKL pool for a couple hours with your hubby, and enjoy some frozen beverages from the pool bar too. DH and I did that on a previous trip and it was one of our highlights. Mini golf is always fun too. And visiting Downtown Disney has something for everyone.

Hi Baton Rouge, we'll be at Disney at the same time, me and hubby too. I am trying to make those same decisions. I am looking forward to making it a relaxed week for us. Maybe some mini golf. We have rented a boat in the past and it was fun! You don't have to spend every waking hour at the parks. Maybe you could plan on what you want to see at the parks and then take it from there. Or just wake up and make the decision. Have a great trip! Metairie

The Adventurer's Club! It's closing the end of September and such a complete blast. I definitely would make time to see it while you can.

First off, you've picked a fabulous resort in terms of things to do during your down time. Just sitting on your balcony or in one of the public viewing areas staring at the animals while sipping on a drink is a fantastic way to enjoy yourself. We always break up our days and find that doing that enhances our vacation enjoyment hugely. Instead of worrying about hitting EVERYTHING in all the parks, just concentrate on making sure you see all your favourites and then anything else you manage to work in is just gravy. This more relaxed approach to a Disney vacation seems to enhance the magic a thousandfold, leastwise for us anyways.

Don't worry too much about time on Disney transportation. When DH & I went last January we really enjoyed our time on busses and even waiting for them. We could just sit together without worrying about our kids and we could talk about whatever we wanted. It really became a mini-highlight to our vacation.

I agree with doing what's best for you. For us, it took me a couple Adults-Only trips to catch on that I should allow DH to keep his normal sleep schedule and not push him into too much when he'd rather be sleeping....made for some real cranky mornings! If it were my trip, I'd schedule some things here and there...we like a mix of planned events and taking our time. I wouldn't worry about checking off a list of large must-do's (for instance, we often skip AK because we find we don't want to cut other fun short) but to just be aware of your options but have fun in the moment!

We do, however, normally stick to our ADRs.
