Question Need help planning ladies only weekend.

I am trying to plan a ladies only weekend in WDW during the F&WF in early November 09'. It may be quite a large group. I am hoping to book a grand villa but that may not even be big enough. My question is does anyone have any tips or advice on large groups going to WDW? Itinerary planning, resort suggestions, dining recommendations-all for a large group (of women!)?

Thanks in advance for any help!

You could find larger homes off property that would accommodate up to 16-18. Although, driving too and from the parks with that many people would be a hassle. If I was planning for more than 12 people and price was no object, I would probably do 2-2 bedroom villas at Disney. That way, everyone has room and you have a living area for everyone to hang out in. I'd probably pick one of the Epcot resorts as you can walk to and from the F&WF. They may be a bit cramped with more than 6 in the villa.

Otherwise, if I was trying to keep the cost down, I'd probably go with multiple single rooms at one of the moderate resorts. Have fun planning!

Question

Thanks Michele! Great ideas. I was thinking that we should probably stay at an Epcot resort. I think staying too close to MK would make all the 'Moms' miss their children....
At this point in time I am not sure how many people will be going but a solid decision must be made by April so I can make ressies. I will know in the next couple of days of I can use our DVC points or not. I'd love to surprize the gals with top-notch accomadations.
I did start a website for the trip. SO everyone can stay updated on stuff. I had so much fun putting that together today!
Please anymore help would be greatly appreciated.

Ohhh, DVC. That would be an awesome surprise! Have you thought about maybe doing one of the special F&WF events/dinners/tastings? My brother did one with his friends last year. It was a special tasting from a South African vineyard. For the $, it was definitely worth it. They were kicking them out of the event area and whatever wine they had in their glass was poured into a plastic cup as they ventured (stumbled) back into the WS.

For dinner, O'hana would be a good choice. I've always have seen many large groups there and it's one of my favorite restaurants. Biergarten would also be a good choice just due to the way you are seated--big tables. Jelly Rolls is a great time and would be easy for you to get to if you stay at an Epcot resort. My favorite place to get a drink during the day is at the pool bar at the Poly. You have a great view of the MK and other resorts. Have fun planning!

Thumbs up

Wow Michele!
Another super suggestion. The one about the special tastings. I never even thought of that one. Do you think one of the more expensive big dinner ones (special culinart events) or just the $15 little ones they have along the World Showcase?

Keep the tips coming. They are so helpful.

I think the one my brother (a wine nut) went to was a moderately priced event. Probably 40-50 and it was just a tasting, no meal. But he said they kept the wine flowing throughout the tasting. They were able to personally talk to the owners of the vineyard and had some snacks to go along with it.

Don't forget they also have special performances by some older, popular singers, too.

Definitely go with the 2- 2bedrooms if you are with DVC. We have done a 3 br villas with 8 adults and had plenty of room but we will be doing the 2- 2 br route this fall with all 19 family members (two will be under 2). And you could do BW or YBC just a walk or boat ride away from Epcot. There are so many choices in tastings so it may be a reason for a planning party to discuss beforehand. It sounds like a great time to be had regardless of where you stay and what you decide on the tastings.
Have a blast! I love adult only vacations at WDW especially during F&WF

This sounds fabulous! And staying at an Epcot resort will make the women glad it's women only - stay away from the MK. LOL!

But what about the new Treehouse Villas - they sound like they could hold a large group and may be open by then. But location, location, location. I vote for an Epcot resort - especially for F&W - my favorite time of year at WDW!

I'm voting for the Treehouses, Al !! I know they're not as convenient to everything (in fact, they are not convenient for anything except DTD), but I've always wanted to stay in one!

The treehouses will definitely be ready and a "new" treat but we were in OKW for 07 f&wf and felt like we were spending more time on the buses than in Epcot, especially if we wanted to get a break in the middle of the day.
Another tip we found that we are implementing in Sept. we are doing 3 big meals, one a magical gathering together but then the rest of the time we are going to let people do their own thing. It makes it more laid back and even though we tend to stay together, it gives everyone some time to go at their own pace or just lounge at the resort or one particular section of the park. An itinerary of the definite "together" times is important to get set as soon as possible although with the change to 90 day reservations it may be tougher to get reservations if you were planning to go that route.
