hi! my husband and i are taking our dd and one of our friends to disney world in april 2010. we're planning on using the neverland club to let our daughter have fun time, and to get to the parks alone. we're hoping to fit in a little romance while we do that, but we don't know how to kindly tell our friend that! it's her first time to any disney park, and there's tons to do, but we don't want to ditch her and hurt her feelings, but we've never had time to ourselves at one of the parks.

any ideas, guys?

I would just talk about it matter of factly. Like, "I can't wait to use the Neverland club so we can have some time alone in the parks, we've never been to the parks alone, looking forward to it so much." If you don't make a big deal of it, she won't think she has a reason to have her feelings hurt.

While the Neverland Club will be fun for your dd is there a reason you aren't having your friend watch her instead? That way your friend is helping you out taking care of your daughter and you get the night off.

Otherwise if she is a good friend it seems like she should pretty easily understand that you need "alone" time with your spouse and she needs to find something else to do...for one night.

I thought the same thing. Plan something for them to do together - like the Luau at Poly or a character dinner.

I agree, see if she'd be willing to spend some 1-on-1 time with your DD as a "favor" to you. Otherwise, sitting down to have a heart to heart about an evening out is probably the best way to go.

I too would "ask" your friend if she would be offended if you used the Neverland Club for your DD whilst you enjoy alone time. That way if he/she wanted to babysit he/she would offer and if not then know in advance that you want ALONE time and plan accordingly. Have fun!

great suggestions, guys! i think i will ask if she would like to- with no pressure- hang out with presley for a couple of hours. they love eachother a lot, so she'll probably be into it!

I would ask her to spend the afternoon & evening with your DD as a favor also. Plan a park, meal and maybe a special activity. I bet she would gladly agree. The two of them would have a great time & so would you two. I think the Neverland Club would be better for another time/trip.

I have been the "third party" on a trip with a married couple and I have enjoyed taking time to got to the pool or even setting up some spa time. If I don't do that then I take the time to get to the parks and take the photos that we missed while going from attraction to attraction. I also get to enjoy the shows which we always seem to miss during the busy days as a group.
