Celebrating a Birthday at WDW

Hi, I am hoping some of you can give me a little insight here! We are taking our children (boy/girl) twins to Disney for their first visit. They will be turning 5 on May 13th but we are going in April for their 5th birthday present. I planned April because they will be "graduating" from preschool the 3rd week of May. Ironically we will be there on our 6th Anniversary! So that is the background, now for the questions.

Does Disney do anything special for the kids celebrating birthdays even though the actual day is about a month away? I was going to order 2 cakes....one at the beginning of the week and the other at the end of the week. I was thinking Cinderella's castle for the first one and either Chef Mickey (mid week and our actual anniversary) or Whispering Canyon cafe (last nite for the 2nd one.

I have done our ADR although I have changed a few of them everytime I read something different. I want this to be a great trip for all of us but especially for the kids....they are what it is all about right now. I really don't care about celebrating our anniversary so much there, I just want this to be so Magical for the kids.

My daughter is a true Princess at heart. In fact, we joke we never know which tiara she will be coming downstairs in! My son is all boy and loves pirates, toy story and lightening Mcquuen. I would also appreciate hearing if you have any must sees! I have read Passporter, the unofficial guide, and Birkbaum (given with our package). At first I wanted to see and do it all but as they weeks draw closer I think we will do the highlights for them and still have time to kick back at the Polynesian pool.

Finally, if in fact they have added the April Dates for the P and PP, do you think it is worth taking my 4 year olds. The only problem I see, is that they are early risers no matter what time to bed so they may just pass out!

I apoligize for this being so lengthy, I could as more questions but think I will stop here for now.

I would look at:
Disney World Birthday Packages, Birthday Celebrations at Disney
and
Children's Birthday Ideas

I don't know about the WDW policy for the birthday actually being during the visit, I'm sure somebody here does! I would like to find out, too!
I think it is possible to integrate your anniv. plans with your trip, it's up to you how 'in-depth' you get with anything at the world!
