Guide to the Magic for kids

Ok I am almost set to purchase these for my DD's 12 and 6 BUT I need to know:
Are the books too big to carry around in the parks all day? Is this a do at the resort type of thing?
Would a 6 year old use it and be able to read it well enought to enjoy it?
Any experiences, tips etc...will be greatly appreciated! Thank in advance!

Their website says the book is 8x10. Not tiny but not huge either. I figure it'll fit in a backpack if DS wants to take it to the parks. I haven't used one before but I'm planning on getting it before we go for DS 8. At the very least it seems a good way for the kids to get a little familiar with some of the rides before going.

We had dd's w/ us during our trip in December. It is kinda big...but not huge. We didn't take it w/ us into the parks everyday, just on our Epcot day. I purchased a separate autograph book for dd once we got to WDW.

Dd was able to carry her book easily in her backpack during our Epcot day. Her backpack was actually a "beach bag" from the Disney Store that I got on clearance at the end of the summer last year...so it wasn't huge by any means. Dd had enough room in it to carry her camera, autograph book and her Guide to the Magic book easily...oh along w/ her pin lanyard when she was tired of wearing it!

Dd and I sat down a few weeks before our trip and worked on the flags in the World Showcase section (they have an empty rectangle for the child to color in the flag for each country). We tried to write in the journal section every day during the trip and placed our ride/attraction stickers after enjoying them... at least once! .. .and wrote our comments for each.

Enjoy the book, dd loves hers!

Wow- I had never heard of this book but I love it! My kids are only 4 and 2 but I think it's a great item that I can fill out every night and keep as a keepsake for when they are older. I wish they had 4 'mini' books- one specific to each theme park as we only plan on visiting MK and HS (MGM) and not Epcot or AK.

I have this book. It does fit in a backpack but I don't think it's a good thing to carry around. We took ours to EPCOT but left it at the hotel on the days we visited the other parks. There is a section on EPCOT and we had someone from each of the countries write my sons name in their language. It was fun and the book is really neat. It just gets heavy for a small child to carry around. My son is 8 and it ended up in my backpack half way throught the day at MK so I left it at the hotel the other days. It really is a great book and my son had a lot of fun with it. It's just a bit big to take to the parks everyday. We marked the park maps and then used those to fill in the book once we got back to the hotel.

Great question and thanks for all the information. I did order one of these for my 8 yr old and found that it was larger than I thought it would be. But it's such a great book, packed full of information interesting to children, I think it'll be worth the $$ even if he doesn't carry it around. I'm planning on a separate autograph book as well.

I just got this book for my boy, and he just turned four! He loves it.. mostly for the pictures. But I plan to work on the book with him at the hotel while DD naps. I suppose that you could take it with you to the parks, but I don't think you need to. But it is a wonderful book, very bright and colorful, and durable (if it can withstand the beating that my son has given it, it can probably withstand just about anything!)

Guide to the Magic for Kids?

Here's a dumb question. Is the Guide to the Magic for Kids a book available from Passporter? I don't see it in their "Store". I've not heard about this book.

I bought the Guide to the Magic for Kids, together with the Lost Secrets and the Autograph and Sticker book. (I met the seller at MouseFest and he had a special offer on). They are so nice that I've decided to keep them for a couple of yours until Kat is seven or eight, so that she can really appreciate them.

I highly recommend the autograph book, by the way. It has space for stickers and stamps in all the Epcot countries.

I purchased two for my soon to be 5 year old twins....this is the best children't book I have come across for them. It has lots of pictures and the stickers they can place on each attraction as they experience them is right up their alley. I have to do the reading to them but they are wonderful books written on a child's level. The back has a whole section much like your passporter where they can tell me their thoughts and I can write it in for them. It is a wonderful keepsake for their first trip to Disney.
