Question My DD6 wants to bring...

her American Girl Doll with her to WDW. Is this something that the girls do??? I almost want to say it would be better to leave her home..

Any advice or input????

BTW...I already told her that the Barbie Dolls (5 or 6 of them) that she put in her carryon are not going... LOL

Brooke always brings one American Girl doll and her Disney Doll (about the same size). I hear you about the Barbies - last week she loaded her backpack with them to bring to a playdate. It ended up so heavy she couldn't carry it I had her choose 3 to bring instead. (But mommy, it's sooooooo hard to choose, I love all my Barbies!)

Does she carry her dolls onto the plane? I'm only asking b/c I'm sure I'll be dealing with this in just 36 days.

Last year when we went, I let my DDs (aged 5 and 7) each take their one stuffed animal that they sleep with every night. From a previous experience at one overnight trip to Albany, NY, I discovered they needed one comfort from home. SO I said yes to the stuffed animals....

But while at Disney we ran into a problem with my youngest. She was upset the entire trip. We thought it was just a case of homesickness. Until we got home. She ran into the house and wrapped herself in her yellow fuzzy blanket and declared she was "never going to leave you anywhere ever again!".

Before the trip I had talked them out of brnging there blankets. My youngest just couldn't get over it. She says she "Love love LOVES disney". Yet she cried the whole time.

So, when we pack for our trip next month, the blankets are coming with us. I want that peace of mind for her so she can enjoy it even more.

But I have said no to everything else they've asked to pack! I told them there dolls will get awfully bored in the hotel room all day. At least if they were home, they had the entire house to themselves! So far, so good.

My daughter brought her American Girl in June. I tried to get her to leave it with "nana" to babysit but she just had to come. She carried her on the plane and when she was tired of holding her she went into her carryon.

She was planning on bringing her to eat with us at CRT however, I told her I was not carrying her so "Kate" spend a lot of time relaxing at the resort....

My kids took 1 stuffed animal their blanket with them. Of course we drove so it was a litle easier. The rule was though that they had to leave the stuffed animal in the hotel room, because I did not want to get stuck carrying them around the park all day. I think having a little bit of home with them helps!

Yes, she carries the AG doll on the outside of her AG backpack and the Disney doll inside the backpack on the plane as her personal item with her carryon bag.

Thumbs up

DD6 is most definately bringing her stuffed animal "love bug" and I have already agreed to bring a blanket (smaller one) that she has had since she was a baby.

I think I am going to veto the AG Doll (Barbie Dolls too!!!). Although, Nana & Papa will probably sneak AG Doll into one of THEIR carryons!!!!!!! I will have to be ever vigilant with those three!!!!!!!

My DD's 10 and 4 both brought their American Girl dolls with us to Fort Wilderness last May (with their own AG tent!) They had more fun with those dolls than anything else and they each bought an outfit Minnie Mouse and Cindy they come with really cute stuff and are cheaper than AG stuff. They took their girls shopping at the Contemporary and had a blast!!

Where did you get the outfits for the AG dolls? My 2 younger girls will probably bring Kit and Nellie with them as they go everywhere with us. They would love to have princess dresses for their babies!!

They are the outfits for the My Disney Princess Dolls. They are not an exact fit, but close enough and they are much cheaper than AG outfits

My girls each brought a baby and a stuffie on our last trip. They were responsible for them on the plane and knew that they couldn't carry them through the parks. The great thing was looking forward to what Mousekeeping would do with them....one day all the dolls were set up coloring together, one day they were watching TV with the bear holding the remote control....it got to be the highlight of the day!!!

My DD Bri brought her 2 fav American Girl dolls with her on our last trip. On our last day of our trip in the evening, DD did bring one of the dolls with her to the MK. She wanted "Jenae" to meet Mickey & Minnie and get to experience the MK too! It was so cute. She dressed up "Jenae" in the Minnie Mouse outfit from the Once Upon A Toy in DTD and made sure she had on her on set of mouse ears too!

Hello All,
Okay well here is my 2 cents. I am a mom of 3 all Girls and well what I did the last 2 times we went was, I made them leave ALL their toy's at home and I secretly packed them New bag's with new crayons and a new doll and coloring books. I looked for cheap stuff about a month or so before hand and just got it all together for them. They LOVED it and I wasn't worried if they lost any of it since it was all dollar store items or clearance junk. So if you don't want them to take the nice doll's or are afraid they will loose them then spend a few bucks and get them some travel ONLY items. It was a huge hit and the kids loved it.

Our DD will probably bring a doll and a slew of "buddies" including Capt. Hook (a pig), 2 cats, and a webkiz or 2... She gets one buddy and the doll on the plane. The others go in the suitcase and they stay in the resort... We'd be in SO much agony if any of them were lost!!!
