Hope you all can help. I have a DD 20 months old and she's decided that she doesn't like to ride in her stroller. Not only does she fight going in but she has figured out out to get out of the restraints. If she had her way she'd walk herself but we all know that can't happen. Any advice for how to move her around if she won't stay in the stoller when we're there.

The only thing I can think of is one of those child backpacks that the child sits in and the adult carries on their back. Although if she fights the stroller I'm not sure she'd go for the backpack either. I'd suggest a wagon but I don't think Disney allows those. The other possibility is to bring the stroller and hope that Disney tires her out enough and provides enough distraction that she doesn't fight the stroller. Good luck and I hope you find a solution.
Why can't she walk? If she is done with it why fight her?
Both my DSs were early walkers and we rarely used a stroller, even at the zoo or when traveling. We just came back from a very crowded WDW with our 4yo and never used one.
I would try to go without it and if your DD gets tired or wants to be carried then maybe rent one but she may be just fine.
I would take the stroller if she wants to see Mickey and get around Disney she may just be nice and sit in it, at the least you have it for naps along the way. Our Grandson objects to sitting in his stroller at times but if he wants to go he has to sit that is all there is to it.

Nova, sadly I think the characters are going to terrify her to no end (if our encouter with Santa is any indication)...so perhaps she'll be so scared she'll stay in it. You are right, if she wants to sit she'll sit.

We took our very independent 22 month old back in 2004. She walked until she got tired. She wanted Daddy to carry her but we put our foot down , stroller or walk LOL. It was fine. Actually it made the buses, boats and monorail easier. We took an umbrella type and just folded it up. In the parks we just pushed it and used it to carry stuff. I think she will be fine walking until she is tired. I was a little apprehensive of her walking in the parks with the crowds etc...but it turned out to be fine. ENJOY!! Oh I just remembered b/c she did not like the stroller it was also our "time-out" spot, kept the temper in check quite well
I say bring the stroller, and like Coasties said, put your foot down. I could see if she can walk on her own but if not you will need the stroller as there is a ton of walking to do in WDW and it gets very tiring.
We do the "tough love" approach! LOL!! Stroller or walk, no exceptions, and if you are walking, you are holding Mommy or Daddy's hand NO EXCEPTIONS. He gets the hint VERY quickly and gets into his stroller.
I am in the same boat here ( going to WDW 6/20-28) and was wondering how we were going to get out 20 mth old daughter to sit in her stroller. She is a very active one too. Guess we will just have to take the 'stroller or walk' approach. Hopefully she won't put up too much of a fight for us.

I agree with everyone, bring the stroller and she'll sit in it if she's tired. Nothing wrong with her walking. If you want to get somewhere quickly you'll need some patience. Have fun!
My 21mo DD is the same way. I hope that by our next trip she will be better
about her stroller but I'm not holding my breath. I would let her walk but
bring the stroller with you. Since you will be going slower with the little one
keep to her scheduale, let her run around the playgrounds and once she is
done maybe she will then want to ride in the stroller.
Oh and the backpacks or Mia wraps and such....unless you have used them before
and your DD is used to them, I wouldn't try them at WDW!
I would definitely take the stroller. When I took my 20 mo. old we rented a stroller that was a nice place to go when she got tired and a place to sit for the parades. For added peace of mind I also got a kid "leash" that went around her wrist so that when she was walking I didn't have to worry about her getting lost in the crowds because mine was also very quick.
I would at least bring a stroller in case she changes her mind. I read somewhere that the average person walks 8 miles a day in WDW. That is alot for a little one but it is really bad after an adult has walked in the parks all day, you are hot & tired too, it gets to be alot to carry a little one at the end of the day.
