| Heely's at WDW? My daughter wants to bring her Heely's (shoe/skate combination) to WDW. I am trying to find some information on a rule or regulation from WDW that bans Heely's from the park that I can show her. I have searched all my guidebooks but have found nothing on this subject. I would suspect that Disney would not allow them in the park, but I am looking for something written that I can show her. I don't want to pack those heavy shoes plus I think they are unsafe without a helmet and knee pads too. Unfortunately, my husband (who bought the shoes) thinks its a great idea to bring them on the trip. Can anyone help me with a rule that bans skates from the park?

| I like the rule of mom....." because I said so" I think that it might be difficult to find something published. Personally, I wouldn't let my kids bring them. The parks are often too crowded and there are too many pple and things to bump or bang into. |

| Unfortunately, Disney does not allow Heely's in their parks. (Actually, I don't know why I say unfortunately, because they're a total nuisance! ) While I was hard-pressed to find an "Official" source (and I looked all over Google!), you can find many "unoffical", but "informed" sites like All Ears (here and here) and WDW Info that state many times that Heely's are not allowed. I also found a thread here on PassPorter from 2007 that discussed this topic - Heelys use at WDW - so as you can see, they've been banned for quite a while now! I hope this helps!

| Nothing with wheels is allowed in the parks except for wheelchairs, strollers and ECV's . . . no skates, skateboards, wagons, Segways other than the CM's or tours, bikes, wheeled coolers, backpacks, etc. Here is a link to the Anita Answer column on AllEars from a while back with the official policy: Anita Answer! Also, here is a link to the FAQ regarding items that are not allowed in the parks on the WDW website: FAQ | Theme Parks | Walt Disney World Resort She can have them at Fort Wilderness in the campground area, but that is it. ![]()

| From the FAQ portion of the Waltdisneyworld.com website: Are there any personal items I should not bring with me into the theme parks? Items that you may not bring into the theme parks include but are not limited to:

| Heelys are defnitely banned in the parks, and at all resorts ( to my knowledge). You can show your daughter the Disney Theme Park FAQ , located on the WDW website, here: Walt Disney World Resort - Detecting Browser Properties . . . Hope that helps! |

| I think those stupid shoes should be outlawed... I've seen parents allow their kids to wear them and play with them in crowded supermarkets, knocking over people and shelved items a like without consequence. Go figure.

| I am an RN & I don't think parents realize that contant wearing of heelies can cause skeletal deformities of the lower leg and ankle because of the angle the foot is at when the wheels are used. I have spoken to orthopedic doctors who think they should be taken off the market. |

| I hate those horrible, god-forsaken things! Most places ban them, but never enforce it. Those shoes are a nuisance and my kids are not allowed to have them. IMO though...you shouldn't have to show your daughter something written down...you are Mom and that should be good enough! |

| Looks like you received several great printable resources. I also agree that if mom says no, then it's no but that's just in our house.

| Thank you for all the links. I totally agree that Heelys are dangerous and I would give my daughter's pair away if I could. Unfortunately, my husband bought them for her (without my knowledge) for her birthday. He thinks they are OK to use. I do try and hide them whenever I can and she has only used them a few times in our driveway with a bike helmet on at my insistence. I've printed out alll the links to show both of them. The Heely's are NOT going to WDW. I can only hope that she outgrows them soon!

| I am glad you are doing so much research so you can show your DD. The very few times I have seen kids wearing Heeley's at a Disney park, there has either (a) been an accident in which the kid crashes into other guests, or (b) been stopped by CM's - I assume they were being informed that they are not allowed. |
