Am I crazy or just crazy about disney? Taking an approx 2 month old to Disney

Ok.. now that I have my trip booked WL Oct 20-27th, 2010, my dh and I have been discussing the dining situation. We love to dine out and our dd is very good in restaurants and I love the break from all the walking from the world so here is my question. At the time of our trip, our new baby will be approx. 2 months old. How am I going to dine with him? We will have a double stroller with us but that is basically it. I will not have him in the car seat so I can't just lug that into the restaurant. HELP! I don't want to give up our dining options -- my dh even offered to hold him the entire meal LOL. I would prefer for us both to enjoy our meals though.

Any help or experience you can share would be so appreciated

Thanks,
Angela

Do you have a Baby Bjorn or some other type of carrier? I used one at our family Christmas dinner when my baby was a month old. It freed up my hands and she was perfectly content.

I'd never take a two month old to Disney. lol, so I give you props for doing it.

I agree, get a carrier that you wear, seems like the easiest option.

I did it! When my Aidan was 2 months old.

It was great! He rode in the Baby Bjorn carrier or in the stroller. I even nursed him in the Baby Bjorn carrier as we strolled around Disney! All babies do at that age are eat and sleep so your baby and your family should be fine.

We really had a great time with him. My daughters were 2 and 4 at that time. They were more trouble than he was.

Have fun!

hmm, if you have to do it I think a carrier sounds like the best idea. A ring sling or a moby wrap would fold up smaller than a baby bjorn/snugglie.

Ditto on the ring sling or moby wrap. Get one now, and as soon as the baby is born start wearing him/her in it. It will help the baby be use to sling, and you will be use to using it & a pro at putting the baby in and out! I took DD#4 when she was 10 mos old, and used my ring sling for standing in all the lines & dinner. Plus, like a previous poster mentioned, you can nurse pretty descreetly in a sling!

Also, don't forget about the baby stations at each of the parks. They are great locations for you to go and hang out for a bit (especially if the weather is really hot or cold) while your DH & older child do some other stuff.

I like the sling wrap idea...and I'm going with your not crazy. You might need more breaks that most but not crazy. It will also be a great way to get away after the baby. I would also hint at her DH that you might need a spa treatment while at WDW.

Mine have all been to Disney as infants. It was fine. We used a baby sling and carried them close. I held/nursed them while we ate or waited in line if they weren't sleeping in the stroller. No problem really.

great tips Thanks ladies.. Yes I know I am partially crazy for doing this, but we do Disney every 2 years with DH's family on the East Coast instead of the holidays and they still get to see the grands

Breaking out the Baby Bjorn again I just hope he isn't too scared by the fireworks but if he is, I'll just step inside a store while DH has dd.

thanks again ladies

I'd be concerned that you might need a c section. 2 months ater mine I felt better but not totally up to spend. There was no way I could have done disney at that point.

I don't think you're crazy, as long as you take things slow and don't expect to do as much as you usually do! Everyone needs breaks and vacations and there is no better place on Earth to take kids, of any age, than Disney..they are so accommodating!!! Babies at the age sleep all day, so they're easy. Meal time does pose a problem...a sling or carrier would work, but be careful with the sling...I'm all paranoid about them now that they've been recalled because of babies suffocating in them. Your double won't accommodate the infant carrier??? The baby will be most comfortable in that.

That is what you need! It doesn't take up much rooms since it can be folded and we left ours in the stroller basket when on rides such as It's a Small World and it was so satisfying to know that I could leave something like that in our stroller and no one stole it! Don't stress too much just have lots of fun and take many pictures!

Wasn't really thinking about a c-section. I know anything can happen, but my last birth was pretty easy considering what some moms go through. We would definitely either alter plans or I would just have to take it easier if something unexpected came up with the birth.

I saw that.. That's what freaked me out.. LOL.. We are not bringing an infant carrier with us. I think we'll try strolling in with the stroller if the baby is sleeping and if not we will have grandparents near by to help with the baby. My dh said at the very least he would put the baby in the Baby Bjorn and just let him sleep while he eats.. LOL..

I can't wait. Thanks I figured that would be the easiest way to go without having too much bulk with us

I so agree with Sarh my kids have gone every year since before they were born till now and just like sarh has said it is going to be slower then normal as long as you plan a few breaks baby should just be fine . And I think dinner would be more relaxing with a carrier this is what we did and had absoultly no problems at all. Pictures when they are this small only come once in a lifetime . And disney is the place to take them!!!
