so sad my daughter tells me today she does not want me to make the usual paper chain, @100 days we start ripping of a chain a day until finally the last one its making me sorta sad, because its a tradition and its also part of our scrabooks every year any odeas for a "cool" countdown for an older teenager??????
Well, there's nothing to keep YOU from doing it, simply because you enjoy it. I wouldn't be totally shocked if she enjoyed it too, but chose to be more of an onlooker at this point.
Ditto-I enjoy watching the paper chain as much as the kids do! I used to make Christmas countdown chains for myself (in red and green!) when I was in college :0)
I was going to do one but never got around to it and my dd is 17. We don't have any kind of countdown going which makes me sad. My dd had knee surgery and it's been kinda crazy then she goes away 9 days before our trip and comes home 3 days before our trip so we haven't prepared for this trip like we usually do. I'm not as excited about it either which makes me sad. Don't get me wrong though I'm truly looking forward to the trip and really need this vacation!!!!
I sorry that dd does not want to help in making one with you , But i will say on the other hand how about still making it or make a 3 month calender to cross off those happy days , I have it set in my mind this is going to happend sooner then later and I will keep doing it because of my love for disney

It seems to me that she might be at that age where she is trying to distance herself from everything she associates with "childhood" to prove she is turning into a young woman. God knows I did the same crapola when I was her age (but it was with Advent Calendars). And when I got older, guess what? I went right back to those things again! LOL
She might also think that paper chains are a little too "low tech" for her smartphone/laptop/gadget lifestyle. Perhaps a better alternative would be a countdown clock for her computer or phone. I have a disney countdown widget for my Android phone and a countdown gadget for my desktop (I have Windows7). I'd be happy to give links and stuff what I've got if you'd like.

I agree....I would do it for yourself....if it is part of your tradition of heading to Disney....continue doing it!!
My DD17 likes to mark her own personal calendar. We've never done a chain, so I don't know how she would have reacted to doing one....though I kind of think if it was tradition, she'd be all over keeping it up. That's just how she is. Sorry your DD isn't interested.
i love the paint mickey head idea Wendy and i love the idea of a high tech countdown for phone and pc Disney Witch!!! Thank you!!! krisk11 my dd just had ankle surgery out of cast now and in a boot, so i feel ur pain, I hope she gets more excited cuz i know IAM!!!!! once its a bit closer I think she will get more excited, ive let her make a lot of the decisions like where to stay, and what new places to see, and what character meals we will be attending....
