I've stayed at many Disney Resorts and seeing all the different amenities offered at different levels. A value resort is a great bargain for those who are traveling on a budget but it is a hidden gem for those who may not know all that it has to offer.

I stayed at Disney's All-Star Music Resort in September 2007 (see my trip report). We were placed in Rock Inn and, while most people may think that a view of the parking lot is not what they would prefer, we were given a room that was on a corner right by the parking lot. This room location made for getting in and out of the resort with our rental car easy and convenient.

The room at All-Star Music was newly remodeled and we were very impressed. The room was clean, and for a party of 2 adults very spacious. The beds were very comfortable and there was plenty of room for us to have our bags and ourselves in the room and use the table to plan for the next day's activities.

All-Star Music has two large pools available and they didn't seem too crowded to me. The walk to the main building wasn't that far and we didn't pay for a preferred view and while some of the buildings did seem a bit far we wouldn't pay for a preferred view as those were close to the building but also close to the pools where noise could be an issue.

We did have a few meals at All-Star Music and the food was average for Disney and the staff was always very friendly (even more so then some of the Higher Priced Deluxe hotels i have stayed at) the food court was always fully stocked, extremely clean and was usually very quiet. In the morning there was a bigger rush of people but they seemed to move quickly.

Check in and check out went very fast and smoothly. It could have been the time we got there was between rushes but they seemed to be very efficient.

Overall for the price we paid we felt that the All-Star Music Resort was a great value for our Budget and we look forward to staying there again.

Review of All Star Music

For anyone looking simply for a clean, comfortable place to lay their head at night, then All Star Music more than fits the bill. I was very impressed with the cleanliness and comfort of the room. However, there were only two of us staying in the room and I wouldn't have wanted to cram any more people than that into those close quarters. Plus, if you want to spend any down time at your resort, other than the two pools, there is not a lot to do at this resort. I personally miss being able to use a hot tub in the evenings.

The bus service here was excellent and we never waited more than ten minutes for a bus to anywhere. When sharing buses with ASMovies and ASSports, we were the middle bus stop which wasn't too bad, all things considered. I felt rather sorry for the folks staying in the Movies section as there often were no seats left on the bus by the time we stopped by there to pick those guests up in the morning.

I didn't like the quality of the food at the food court here at all. We tried one meal here but the food was so awful that we never returned for any other meals. However, we did find the refillable mugs to be a great value.

I highly recommend rooms in the Jazz buildings at this resort as then you are midway between the two swimming pools which cuts down on the noise level but you're still only about a three minute walk from the main facilities and bus stop.

One word of caution about this resort: WATCH OUT FOR CHEERLEADERS! The only real downside to our stay here was that there were hordes of cheerleaders staying at the resort while we were there. They tended to take over both swimming pools and weren't always the best behaved as they seemed to be very poorly chaperoned.

Giant maracas and guitars? Isn't that a 57 Chevy Bel Air? What's not to love about All Star Music!!!
We stayed there in 2002 and had a preferred room in Calypso. It was just the second room on the ground floor, so it was a really quick walk to the food court. We really enjoyed the offerings in the food court. The buses were very efficient, to all parks.

Thumbs up Great for families with kids in their tweens

The first time we vacationed at Disney we stayed at Movies and loved it...because our kids were 8 and 4. Since, we have stayed at Music the other three times and I am glad. While movies is great for the young ones, it can get a little loud with cranky kids and parents. Music still has some young ones but not to that extent. We are a park opening and closing family so we spend little time at our room. But while there, the magic continues throughout the resort. We eat breakfast very early and eat dinner very late but the food is always fresh and tasty. We love coming to our room at the end of the day and find little surprises that housekeeping has done with the stuffed animals and treasures we have bought during our stay. We love this resort and will not stay any where else.

I stayed at ASMu before Pop or Movies were available. This was the first time I actually felt a class difference in the Disney Service as an onsite guest. I have stayed at Carribbean Beach back when that was the budget hotel and had a better experience then ASMu.

The rooms at AllStar are small. There were 4 adults and we were on top of each other all the time. Fortunately, we were only there overnight. But with that in mind - we had very minimal luggage, just overnight bags and we were still crampped. I would not reccommend these rooms for 4 adults. Adults and kids may be fine.

The next comment is that this is really just a motel. Think of any Howard Johnson, Days Inn or Motel 6 you'd find traveling on 95 and this is what you get. Granted you are still on Disney property so that is a plus but the rooms are really nothing special and rather noisy. My other really BIG problem with the room was the smell. There was some sort of automatic airfreshner in the room that was just awful. I'm really sensetive to smells and got an instant headache walking into the room. Thankfully our stay was only one night. Honeslty I don't think I would have been able to stay longer than that.

In terms of the class difference I noted earlier, this was mostly in reference to the bus service. We were waiting at one of the theme parks and ALL THE OTHER resorts had shaded areas to wait. The ASMu resort had exposed benches just blazing in the summer sun. And the bus drop off/pickup locations were the furtherest distance from the park entrance. As we sat in the scorching sun waiting for our bus at least 3 buses for the Poly and Grand Fl came by. I suppose if I spent more money to stay in one of those resorts I'd expect a few perks. The funny thing is I never felt that way when I stayed in the CBR and I stayed there for 10 days compared to just 1 at AllStar.

My other problem with this resort is it's size. After a long day in the park you now have a HIKE to get to your room. If you can - get a preferred room!

I did stay there a long time ago and hopefully some of these comments have been corrected.

I don't think I'd stay here again. I'd upgrade to a Moderate or save money and do a budget off property.

All in all the room was clean. If you go into it with an open mind and just expecting a room and nothing more than it would be fine.

If you want a good time at a great price then head for All Star Music. Imagine swimming in the guitar or keyboard pool then heading to your room for that much needed nap. Enjoy the complimentary soap and shampoo and the super roomy shower! For the best location in the resort, ask for the Calypso. Yes, it might be a little more expensive to take a preferred location but the close proximity to the busses, the gift shop, the food court and for those of you who prefer to drive, the parking lot, the extra few dollars a night is well worth it!

Make sure you try the great food at the Intermission food court! The chicken ceaser is incredible and who can resist the Mickey waffles with strawberries. You'll find a clean eating area and lots of friendly faces! Don't forget your refillable mug!

The busses run about every 10 minutes and though occasionally crowded when returning from the parks, Disney transportation can't be beat!

Though the rooms are small and probably not good for more than 2 people comfortably, the perks of being on Disney property make this value location a great deal. Since you will spend most of your time in the parks ... this resort is a part of what makes a Disney vacation affordable.

When it was just DH and myself, we stayed at POR, but for this trip (January 08) we had DD26, DD23 and DS20 with us. We needed two rooms and could not afford two rooms at a moderate resort. We ended up getting a great deal at All Star Music. With our AAA rate we got each room for $65.50/ night.
We requested and received connecting rooms. We also requested rooms in the Jazz building, which we did not get. We were put in the Rock building, which turned out to be fine. It wasn't much farther than Jazz.
We were on the first floor and even though it seemed that there were lots of people at the resort, it was very quiet.
The rooms were clean, and during our stay mousekeeping did a great job keeping them looking nice and replenishing our soap and shampoo.

We ate at the food court several times. It always seemed to be crowded, but it didn't take too long to get served. Waiting in line to be checked out was sometimes a bit of a wait. They could have had a couple more CMs ringing people out (in the morning especially).
We brought cereal, poptarts, and our own coffee maker, along with coffee bags, tea bags and hot chocolate. It was much easier to eat in our room. But some mornings one or two of us went into the food court to get fresh fruit. Nice that this was available.
We also bought a half gallon of milk in the gift shop rather than pay $1.29 for a half pint in the food court. I had a soft sided cooler which we kept cold with ziploc bags of ice. Our millk and juice stayed nice and cold! Thank you to someone on these boards who gave me that idea!!

Ironing board in the room was used quite a bit, as I cannot stand to wear something that looks like it just came out of a suitcase! We also made use of the in-room safes and the girls used the blow-dryer.

We had mickey soaps and shampoos, which I was quite excited about. I had heard that the value resorts had gone to the shampoo dispensers in the showers. This was not true in our rooms.

We really enjoyed the theme of each of the buildings. Several mornings we even took a walk to All Star Movies and All Star Sports to see their theming. Very cute!

The buses were not bad at all. We never waited too long for a bus to the parks. Catching a bus at the parks back to the resort was generally longer, but only once did we wait more than 10 minutes. Sometimes the buses back to the resort would be picking up for all three All Star resorts, and sometimes, just Movies, Music or Sports. But in the morning, our bus always went straight to the park, no other stops at the All Star resorts.

When we checked in we got a calendar of resort activities. - movie nights at the pool, hoola hoop contests, trivia games, etc. We did not participate in any of these activities, but the movie night at least seemed to be well attended by families with young kids. (We didn't see any of the other activities - I think they took place during the day and we spent all day at the parks)

All in all it was a great stay. It certainly was a great value for the 5 of us! I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to do Disney on a budget.

All star music is my favorite of the two i've stayed in. I stayed in sports twice and they were ok but music was better. Next time my family goes we plan to stay in a family suite. If any1 can give me feedback on the suites, please post reply.

All Stars Music and ME

Well it was our first ever Disney vacation. We got to the hotel and was never told when We made reservations that the Guitar pool was under construction. (Had I known this, we would have stayed elsewhere) To me, the room felt like living in a shoe box for a week with a family of 4. Mousekeeping was ok at times. There were times when nothing special was done for the kids.

I just hope our next vacation is more magical.

Cool all star music

i stayed in all star music for the first time in may '07.

I was there with my boyfriend nick. We were placed in Broadway.

We enjoyed our time in the room, which was mainly to sleep and shower.

The only bummer to our stay was that the guitar pool was closed so the piano pool was a lil crowded.

The food court was pretty good for the most part. Mainly ate breakfast, and lunch 2 of the 7 days we were there.

Our room was close to parking lot which was convenient, and we drove to the front to catch the park buses.

We r looking into staying in a family suite next time we go. I have heard some good things about them.
