All Star Movies - Review just got back...

We literally just got home from Disney as I write. We stayed a second time at the All Star Movies and have decided it will be our last time. Our room was in the Toy Story section, which I believe to be probably the best of the area in terms of proximity and quiet. However, this hotel due to its value ends up being under siege from "groups" - I believe Brazil is having a vacation this week as there were at least four groups of different travel clubs there. Ultimately this makes the whole bus experience dreadful. As I was reading in one of our travel books, the All Stars have over 5,000 rooms - almost twice as much as the nearest resort hotel - overall the crowds do more damage to the value proposition than anything Disney could do. Besides that, we found the rooms to be just too small for a family of four with two strollers to get in the door. It was nice, but we'll be upgrading the resort next time.

We enjoyed it but after doing Caribbean Beach we realized it wasn't as great as others.

This was the first time I had stayed at a Value resort. I had a 12 year old and a 6 year old with me. I had expected the rooms to be small, but I was surprised to see just how small they were upon arrival. Not a lot of storage. We stayed in a preferred room in the Dalmation Section. For a preferred room, I was surprised at how far away we still were from everything. I found the food court to be busy, but with good food choices and with seating always available. Bus Service was slow, and the buses were very crowded. Mousekeeping did a great job freshening up the room each day; however, our room was never serviced before 2:30pm. This was hard if you came back for a rest earlier in the afternoon as you didn't know exactly when to expect Mousekeeping. The two children that were with me loved the resort and the pools. I was impressed with the lifeguards; they really kept a watchful eye on everyone around the pool. The "bigger than life" figures were cute. While I might stay at this resort again if I had children with me (the two with me were not my own), I could never see my DH staying at the All Stars as there would be no place for him to relax.

Smile Awesome Value Hotel

I actually preferred this hotel over both Caribbean Beach and Port Orleans Riverside. I felt from the minute I got there that I was at Disney. That at no time changed! Everything was Disneyfied!!! The staff are wonderful, the theming is terrific! I would not hesitate to stay here! It is truly a fabulous resort!
I would chose Deluxe if I could, but if I couldn't afford it, this would definitely be my next choice!!!

I recently stayed here at All Star Movies (April 2008). My main reason for choosing this resort was the affordability and when I combined the regular rate with the Annual Pass discount it was hard to pass up for a quick, spur of the moment trip.

The theme here is wonderful. With the larger than life movies depicted there for you to see its really a wonderful place for family and kids.

However, that being said, I prefer not to stay at one of the value resorts. The room is fine for me when I am traveling alone, but when there are two or more people the room seems a little too small. Also, the pool area is so crowded that its hard to find a chair by the pool even in the early afternoon - and not just the big pool, but all the seats around the children's wading pool were occupied.

AS Movies is great for families. Kids will love the larger-than-life icons from their favorite movies.

However, I wouldn't recommend it for a couple wanting some quiet romantic time.

The large amount of families (and school groups) insure that the resort is usually crowded and noisy.

Wonderful resort!!

My family: Myself, DH and two girls ages 13 and 7 stayed at ASMo August 16th-17th. We had a room only reservation here for our arrival day.
The minute you walk into this resort the atmosphere is one of FUN and happiness. The lobby is very bright and cheery. The kids waiting area is set- up as a mini theatre. I used the online check option for this reservation and it made it very easy and seamless.
I had requested a 3rd floor room in a Toy Story building. We arrived early so our room was not ready. We used the text to phone option for when the room became available. They gave us our KTTW cards and we were off. We walked around the resort and took pics with all the icons. Andys room was our favorite.
We decided to head over to DTD while we waited for our room. At promptly 3:10 we received our text, we had been assigend to room 308. Upon our arrival at the room I could not believe the view. They had granted our request and we had an awesome view of Woody outside our window. We also had a cute towel bunny waiting for us in our window.
The room was clean and cheery with plenty of space for the four of us.
We did have the opportunity to walk around the entire All Stars complex and all the resorts were just wonderful.
This was our second stay at a WDW value resort and we enjoyed it more than our stay at AKL. Having stayed at every level on Disney property I have to say our favorites have been the values and Fort Wilderness. For value, amenities ( the only thing we really missed was a slide at the pool) and themeing All Star Movies is our resort of choice for our next WDW vacation.
We found this resort to be clean, beautiful and just FUN!!
