Disney's All-Star Movies Resort (Disney Value Resort) Reviews and Ratings
Both economical and magical, the All-Star Movies Resort at Walt Disney World brings movies to life. Disney's All-Star Movies Resort is a value resort located near Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park and the Blizzard Beach water park.
Personal Review: We've stayed here several times over the years, including one memorable stay for New Years Eve 1999/2000. Of the three All-Star resorts, Movies is our preference. It's the newest of the three and we feel the theming is the best.

The All-Star Movies resort is a fun resort, with many whimsical icons and photo opportunities throughout. Whether it's sitting in RC the race car from Toy Story, to standing across the pool with Sorcerer Mickey in the background, you will find plenty of places to to take a memorable photo.
As a Disney Value resort, the All-Star Movies resort is definitely a bargain, considering the free park transportation and Disney's world renowned service.
We stayed at the All-Star Movies resort in August 2004, and had a room on the second floor of Buiilding 10 (Buzz Lightyear). Our building was close to the laundry facility, the main theme pool (Fantasia), the playground and the Cinema Hall food court. The room had just enough room for us at the time (2 adults, and 2 boys, aged 8 and 5) and we didn't feel cramped. the plumbing from the adjoining rooms could be heard through the walls, which was a minor nuisance to the light sleepers in our party.
We dined at the All-Star Movies food court a few times during our trip, and found the service to be very good and the selection of dining options was varied enough for our tastes.
The All-Star Movies bus service was not as convenient as we thought it would be; a few times we encountered long lines and wound up having to wait for a second bus to arrive before we were en route to our destination. On one particular evening at Magic Kingdom closing time, we noticed a longer line for the All-Star Movies than the All-Star Music bus, so we took the Music bus and walked from there to Movies, as those two resorts are next to each other. We were not the only ones who had that idea, either, as we were in a pack of about a dozen Movies guest who disembarked at the Music terminal and walked through the parking lot to the Movies resort.
I fell in love with this resort the minute I laid eyes on it! The huge icons get you into the Disney mood immediately . I found the resort to be very well maintained and clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room is plenty big for two adults but is a tad small if you have more than one kid with you, IMO. Other than that, the beds are comfy, the style is pretty cool (I love the star lamps!), and all the basic necessities are there. My DH especially enjoyed the themed pool with Sorcerer Mickey spraying water . The giant ice hockey masks in the Mighty Ducks section kinda freaked me out because they are just so HUGE. My favorite sections are Fantasy (due to the proximity to pretty much everything) and 101 Dalmatians (because the dogs are just so darn cute). The food court offers a good variety for both breakfast and lunch/dinner, and it was always clean, too.
All in all, this is a really great resort which we'd stay at again in a heartbeat!

A visually happy resort! We enjoyed the themes that surround each building; the details were amazing! The food court was great, and we found the laundry facilities to be clean and located close to the pool! Our room was cheery and clean. We give this value resort two thumbs up!
We had the opportunity to stay at the All-Star Movie resort on our honeymoon in 2000 and for our first trip together as a couple. We were on a budget and this fit that budget perfectly. This is probably my favorite value resort of those I have stayed at over the years.
First and foremost, the theming is WONDERFUL. The large icons from the Disney movies ranging from the hockey mask of the Mighty Ducks to the huge door entering "Andy's Room" in the Toy Story Section to the large Pongo and Perdita in the 101 Dalamations section, I felt immediately immersed in the Disney magic walking around the grounds of this resort. We spent probably the first two hours on property walking around taking pictures.
We were in the Mighty Ducks section facing the quiet pool. Although this was not our preferred location, we actually enjoyed it. We loved spending time in the quiet pool after a long day in the parks. Rooms were the standard hotel room size, and the beds were comfortable enough.
The food court at Cinema Hall was good with a large selection. We ate quite a few meals here and were happy with options available.
During our stay, we only had bus service issues a couple of times, all during the end of day rush to get back to the resorts. Bus service to the parks were without issue.
Pros: Affordability!!! Theming!!!
Cons: Bus service can be an issue as it shares with the other All Star Resorts.

I stayed at the ASMovies several times in 2003 and enjoyed the stay. The rooms are compact, but not too small feeling. There is only one sink and not as much drawer space as I'd like for our family of three. (Larger families should consider bringing hanging organizers.)
The staff was wonderful and everything was very clean.
The theming is very vibrant and very Disney. It's wonderful at first, but can be wearing after a few days -- almost like you never get a "break" from the vibe of Disney World. To some people that's half the fun. For me, it was a little much.
As for the buses and food court, we were there in the light season (May and October) and they weren't too bad, although much busier than the moderates I've stayed in since then. During peak or holiday seasons, the buses can be totally overcrowded, with long waits at park close.
For the price, ASMovies is a wonderful resort.

Judging this Resort using an apples to apples basis with other 'value' resorts, both Disney and Non, I would give ASM an overall rating of a '9',
It is imacculate and comfortable for small families.
We've been there twice and it worked out perfectly for us both times. The only real flaw is the rather long bus ride to and from the parks (though the bus service was fantastic, we never had to waitlong at all)
The pricing may seem high for a value resort compared to non-Disney resorts BUT the value (or BANG for your buck) more than makes up for the difference.
I LOVE the theming. The themeing is 'In your Face Disney' but in no way over done.
The Amenities are standard for this type of resort, but the pool is something extra as far as values are concerned.
and as for Magic, well...I wish I can go even high than a 10 and say 12.
We stayed once at All Star Movies and we loved it. We stayed in the Love Bug section and it was very peaceful and quiet. Room was small but very clean and colorful. We did not care for the bus service as much here since they share buses with the other All Stars and the buses and bus lines were very crowded at times. I would definitely be fine staying here again. My DS loved it also and I think it is very appealing to those with young kids.
I love this hotel. It's very Disney. We have stayed here a couple times and have loved it each time. Easy access to everything. There are 2 swimming pools which are both fun themed. We will stay here in the future.
We loved ASMo when we stayed last year. My boys love Toy Story and were so excited to see the bigger than life Andy's Room and Buzz characters. We stayed in the Toy Story Bldg which was close to the food court and bus. Did get a little crowded but expected that going in so was no problem for us. Only drawback was the beds were a little hard, but would stay there again.
We've only stayed at the All Star Movies once, in 1999. It was our first stay on property.
It is really great for keeping a good budget. We had a standard room, in Mighty Ducks. We used Disney transportation exclusively and found it to be quite reliable from there.
I would stay there again. Disney movies and cartoons made us fall in love with Disney, period, and staying in a movie themed resort is so much fun! For being a value/budget type resort, we really thought it had everything!
We stayed at the movies last jan and loved it. We were in building 10(toy story) and loved it. The room was not huge, but we only used it to SLEEP in. It did not have a coffee pot, but we always bring our own no matter where we vacation. The only draw back was we were facing the loading dock and we could hear the "back-up beeps" on the loading trucks in the early morning hours, but we are early risers anyway, so not a big deal for us. The transportation bus were not a problem except for one late night from Whispering Canyon to DTD then to ASM. The parks were closed when we left WCC so we had to go to DTD, there we had to wait about 45 minutes for a bus and by that time some of the late night drinkers were out and tring to catch a bus too. Overall we LOVED the ASMovies.
