| Disappointment I had stayed here from Sept. 11 - 15, 2007 as a birthday treat to myself. I used my DVC points for a tower room Magic Kingdom view. After all the years of going to WDW I had always wanted to stay here and this trip was my first and only time I would ever stay at the Contemporary Resort. I was very disappointed.
Check in was no problem with one exception, there was no wheelchair that I had requested. When I informed the cast member she informed me that there were none to give me but she would be more than happy to give me the name of a company in Orlando that would deliver a wheelchair for me. I said no. We got to our room and the view was amazing. That is the only good thing I could say, the view was amazing. I already knew there was construction going on and that did not bother me in the least. Upon entering, noticed that our door would not open wide, the rubber stopper under the door was torn. The rubber stopper broke off and it never was cleaned by housekeeping. Looked in the bathroom, and did not see all the towels. Called housekeeping said they would be right up. Didn't come until later that night. Went to put some bottle water in the mini fridge, was not working. Called maintenance. They came up within 5 minutes. They were very nice.
The monorail floor needs to be reconfigured. There is no traffic flow for those standing in line for the monorail and those leaving the monorail. There needs to be more than two cast members working at this station.
Over all, found housekeeping and the Concourse Steakhouse to be a disappointment. The cast members working at the Tempo Grab n Go were so nice and friendly as was maintenance. Housekeeping did not make up our room until late in the afternoon each day. I know this because one one day we came back to our room and it was 4:15 and they still had not shown up. Another day we were back in the room about the same time and still they had not shown up.
This is the one resort that I feel does not have the Disney feel to it. It is to me very business orientated and geared more towards adults. Very cold is the feeling I would describe it as.
I also do not feel that is handicap friendly. As there was a member in my party that was in a wheelchair, I found it be very hard to push on the carpet on our floor and to go to the monorail. Yes there is an elevator but it is not easier to exit the elevator when you go up to the floor. Nor is it easy to get to the elevator when you exit the monorail.
Overall I would not spend any more of my points staying here. The next time I want to stay close to the Magic Kingdom, I will choose either the Poly or GF. | | Author review | | MY OVERALL RATING [?] | | 6.0 | | Quality | | 5.0 | | Accessibility | | 7.0 | | Theme | | 4.0 | | Amenities | | 4.0 | | Magic | | 4.0 | |
