Question Priority Seating for Fantasmic and Electrical Parade

I wasn't sure where to post this, but since it is talked about in the Feasting section of the PassPorter, I guess this would be right.

I need info from people who have actually done the Fantasmic! Balcony Dessert Buffet and Disney's Electrical Parade Viewing at Wine Country Trattoria. Is it worth it? We have a party of three (2 adults, 1 teenager) and I think we are going to do this instead of doing a tour since none of them interest us.

Please fill me in on the details. With the Electrical Parade it says you get a meat and cheese appetizer tray and a beverage. Each person gets a tray?, I am assuming. Can the beverage be wine for the adults? Is it worth the $56? How many does this area seat?

As for the dessert buffet (which I am really interested in), what kind of desserts? I have a food allergy and I'm wondering if they can work with that or am I stuck with with lots of crusts and pastries? Same question about the money. Are the desserts and drink worth the $56? Are kids less like they are for the Electrical Parade seating?

I am not interested in the Fantasmic! Premium Seating as it doesn't sound like a good value for what you get. But, if you can change my mind, please let me know your experiences.

Thanks in advance!!!!

OK, I've answered some of my own questions and thought I'd share what I learned today after speaking to Cast Member Doug.

They no longer offer the Balcony Dessert Buffet for Fantasmic . That has combined with the Premium Seating and you get a boxed dessert & beverage for the $56 price. They will work with food allergies. You just have to let your host know when you arrive and a substitute will be offered. There are 75 premium seats.

The viewing for the Electrical Parade at Wine Country Trattoria is still on. This seats 25 in this area and is still $56.

You still have to wait 30 days in advance to reserve either one of these.

Also, if you haven't been to DL's Fantasmic before, it's not stadium seating like WDW. You basically sit on the ground or find a standing spot by a railing (sort of how I picture Illuminations to be). Some people will camp out on blankets that they bring with them up to 2 hours in advance, so if it's not worth your time to try to "reserve" a viewing spot by standing/sitting 1-2 hours before the show starts, consider doing the preferred seating.

Also, if there are 2 shows the night you're here, consider going to the later one...as the first group walks out of the area, you can try to snag a decent viewing spot. It's a madhouse, but it works sometimes.

We've never felt is was worth it - you have a good chance to get a good seat at the Trattoria (with a little wait) on the balcony anyway and with a late dinner you can enjoy your food while watching (the dessert area, if it's still the same is over by the wine tasting area so they are not blocking off areas that people would normally be able to sit at. Last year, we went to DCA in July and there was NO ONE waiting to see the parade. Perhaps up at the hub, but we camped out on the bridge near the wharf and never got crowded out or anything.

I can't recommend anything about Fantasmic since we haven't camped out for seats in years. Now that the kids are able to stay up later, we'll probably start staying for it. In the past, we did the wait-for-early-show-to-leave-and-snag-seats method (there's a counter service where the seating overlooks the river), however they also didn't offer seating packages the last time we watched Fantasmic.

Thanks for the extra info. I've seen both shows before though it has been a long time. I'm thinking we'll end up passing as the one I really wanted to do no longer exists.

You may already know this but the reason they no longer offer the balcony seating for Fantasmic is because that balcony now belongs to the Dream Suite.

And it makes perfect sense.

Talked to my travel party and we decided to save the extra money on the priority seating for these shows and spend it on a couple very nice dinners instead. Think we will enjoy ourselves more doing this.

Doesn't matter anyway...

Well, I guess this part of this thread doesn't matter anymore. Fantasmic will be shut down while we are visiting:

Tuesday October 14, 2008
Disneyland® Park
Hours:
9:00 am - 8:00 pm

Parades Event:
Time:

None scheduled at this time.

Entertainment Event:
Time:

None scheduled at this time.

Closed for Refurbishment:
Conostoga Wagon
Fantasmic!
Harbour Galley
it's a small world
Pirates of the Caribbean
Sailing Ship Columbia

I'm pretty ticked off that Pirates is closed! We'll miss the ride by a day! What timing...

I did the dessert package in May. I was very disappointed. IMO it was not worth $60.00 and the seating was not much better than if you just went to the show.

The box contained a small amount of fruit (grapes are all I can remember), some grocery store cheeses (bonbel and I think land o'lakes), a few crackers and 5-6 very small pastries, one of which was a medium sized chocolate covered strawberry and a couple of chpocolates. You also got a drink. I had water -a small Dasani- and coffee and tea were also offered. I did not get a glass with my water, coffee and tea were in carboard cups. To me, it was definately not worth the money. I was alone so it was just one $60.00 fee. I would ahve been pretty unhappy if I spent $240.00 for my family to go.
