Breakfast in the Park

I will be going to the Disneyland resort in December with my brother, his girlfriend, and my Boyfriend. On past trips I have always brought my own Breakfast bars. But the boys want a "real breakfast". I know of a lot of places surrounding the park that we could eat at. But I would like to know if there are any places that any of you like to go to IN the park for breakfast. They dont really like sweets. So I am looking for a place where there is a hearty menu. Eggs, bacon, ect.

Storyteller's Cafe in The Grand Californian Hotel has a fabulous breakfast buffet. It's not inside the park, but it's only 50 feet from the hotel entrance to DCA and the food is great

There's a sit down restaurant on Main Street( Carnation Cafe) -- its in the middle on the left side that serves breakfast -- also restaurant by Pirates( River Belle Terrace) that have a buffet style breakfast-- I usually get their plate with eggs, sausage and biscuit

The Carnation Cafe would be a great choice if it's open (which it probably will be during holiday season). Or you could try La Brea Bakery in DD. YUMMMM.

Having eaten there last week, I can also recommend this.

You can also get a hot breakfast at Ralph Brennan's Jqzz Kitchen in the Kitchen Express at Downtown Disney. It's more of a walk-up with seating outside but it's probably faster than a sitdown restaurant if time is of concern.

Carnation Cafe is my favorite in-park breakfast in Disneyland, but since all the seating is outside, happiness is weather-dependent. Another good choice is Cafe Orleans - plenty of hearty choices. At DCA I'd suggest the breakfast at Pacific Wharf Cafe (breakfast croissant, scrambled egg & bacon in a bread bowl, oatmeal), or the character breakfast at Ariel's.

Carnation Cafe is a great place to let it soak in that you are in Disneyland! The last two times we were there it was our first meal after checking in.

Just my two cents: I had one of the worst Disney breakfasts ever at Cafe Orleans in September - two of them, actually, because the first one was so bad I had to send it back! They replaced my smooshed, gluey and greasey three-cheese Monte Cristo with some dried-out potatoes and eggs drenched in cheap Cajun seasoning.

(However, I highly recommend Cafe Orleans' lunch menu. We eat there every couple of months and it's always fresh and tasty - go figure!)

River Belle Terrace is consistent, and (outside the park) WhiteWater Snacks at the Grand Californian does a hearty, inexpensive, and tasty hot breakfast. Like Storyteller's Cafe, it's just a few steps from the Grand Californian's entrance into DCA.

We also enjoy having a hearty breakfast (especially when traveling!), so whenever we go to Disneyland for a full day, we like to kick it off with the "Minnie and Friends Breakfast in the Park" at the delightful Plaza Inn. It's a great all-you-care-to-eat buffet breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, Mickey waffles, muffins, fresh fruit and more, along with a wonderful made-to-order omelet station. Along with Minnie, of course, they usually feature Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger, and the characters always come around to each of the tables (inside and out), which is always fun!

The Plaza Inn is located at the very end of Main Street, on the right, just before the entrance to Tomorrowland. It's a very charming location, with both inside and outside seating available (some outside seating is on the "porch" which runs the entire length of the restaurant), with a real old-fashioned Disneyland feel.

We've never had a problem just walking up and getting in, but we often go during off-peak periods, and usually arrive right when the park opens; so in December around holiday time with a party of four like yours, calling Disney Dining in Southern California at 714-781-DINE (3463) to make a priority seating reservation would be recommended. From now until December 11th, breakfast is $25.85 each, including tax but not the tip, and $30.16 each, including tax but not the tip, starting December 12th through January 4th. However, we find that with a big breakfast like this one, we tend to eat very light and often just grab a quick snack around lunchtime, which helps balance things out when budgeting.

Overall, the "Minnie and Friends Breakfast in the Park" has a great selection of food, lots of great photo opportunities, and always ends up being a very memorable time!

I truely must agree with Think Tink when it comes to the Plaza Inn for breakfast. If your boys, or anyone else for that matter, walks away still hungry, it's their own fault. Hahaha. There is two other breakfast buffets I would highly recommand if you don't mind the walks. The first is Storytellers in the GCH. The draw back there is that to use the CA gate, you MUST show a room key to any of the Disney hotels. They have been doing that now for the past several months. The other great buffet is at Goofy's Kitchen over in the DH. If you take either, keep in mind that there is a Momorail station not too far away and let me tell you, sometimes that is the fastest way into the park. We usually enter Disneyland first thing in the morning at that point to avoid the long lines.

Walt Disney use to eat Sunday breakfasts at the Riverbelle Terrace. It use to be my favorite thing to do on a Sunday morning also, until they did the refurb. The food is still decent...but not as good as it use to be. It is still a treat, though, to sit on the terrace when the park first opens (before the big crowds hit), eating breakfast, overlooking the Rivers of America. Try it, you'll like it!
