| Opinions on our dinning plans I just finished making reservations to eat for our February 11th-14th Vacation. I've been to DL plenty of times but it's been more than a decade and I'm going with a first timer. Well, first time since he was 5, and it's his birthday trip! How does this dinning schedule sound to folks who have been there lately? Dinner, UVA for Tapas - I'm praying that the weather holds out for us. Breakfast, Goofy's Kitchen Lunch, Rancho de Zocalo Dinner, Blue Bayou Breakfast, la Brea Cafe' Lunch, Wine Country Trattoria Dinner, Bengal BBQ Breakfast, DLH Room Service Also, I read someplace about some sort of "Birthday Bucket" you can add on at table service places. Has anyone every gotten one of these?

| Yep, the plan is to split the day. I figured though putting our quick serve at night if we end up all day at DCA there won't be a problem to pick someplace else.

| DH is a huge sushi fan and I've been thinking of switching our Blue Bayou reservations out for Yamabuki but I've never eaten there. Does anyone have experience with this place?

| Well, Blue Bayou is the "it" restaurant at DL, if you are looking for history. It was the only one for a very long time and is ripe with atmosphere and feelings. The food is not what it once was, though I will admit it's been many years since we've been. But for experiences, I don't think any restaurant can beat it. However, food does play a factor. If it's an either/or decision, then I think you need to look at whether the food options outweigh the experience. I'm not a sushi fan, so I can't compare the two directly.

| There just didn't seem like much I would eat at Blue Bayou I don't eat a lot of meat and I don't eat mushrooms (which was the vegetarian option). DH could eat at either place and enjoy but if I'm not having a "meat day" it seemed like I would be out of luck. I'm going to have to think about this one some more.

| If you would have asked that question a few years back I would have said never eat there as when we were there in '06, the food was so bad I had thoughts of walking away without paying but.....I PAID. We went back last year and I have to say that they had a total make over with management and staff and......the food was totally OUT OF SIGHT. I would not mind eat there again and in fact, we just might next month. The sushi is out of this world as is the rest of the menu. GO FOR IT! |
