Cali. Food and Wine Festival

has anyone heard anything more about this years festival? We've done WDW's twice now and loved it, and when we learned last year that we would be at DLR for theirs DH and I were stoked. But I can only find info about last year and when the dates are this year. Does anyone have any idea about whether or not they will release much info in advance? I've been finding it curiouser and curiouser that less and less info is being released. Ok, maybe not that strange considering the current financial market, but its killing my planning buzz not to have any more info! I have to have some kind of distraction, and planning my vacation is my diversion gosh darnit. So if anyone has any info to help distract me that would be awesome

Great question - I was just going to ask it myself. We did the Food & Wine Festival every year we lived in Florida, and now we can't wait to do the one at DCA . We found this basic info, but nothing about the special events yet. Wonder when they'll release that info?

The Disneyland site posted some new info - still waiting for exact times of particular events. But we also noticed the "Party for the Senses" equivalent is happening only on one weekend - we may have to reschedule our visit. Anyway, check out this link for details of the festival.

Thanks for the info. I had caught some of the update earlier, but hadn't had the chance to really look at it. Hopefully they will add more of what you're looking for so you don't have to change your plans We're going to a wedding (the actual reason I get the excuse to go, lol) so we are going to plan to enjoy what we can get when we're there! I'm so excited, and I just can't hide it. Thanks again for helping me stay up to date

The DLR food & wine festival is nothing like WDW, it's on a MUCH smaller scale. The food last year was distributed at the defunct chinese food CS place in the Wharf area. I'm not into wine, so I didn't really pay attention to events they had for wine tasting. Although some events/classes looked fun, the one at EPCOT is just so much grander!

I went to the festival in early May 2008 and loved it. I haven't had the opportunity to visit the festival in WDW so I have nothing to compare the DCA one to.

However, I was told last year that the 2009 festival would be late May, through June. This is a bummer for me because my AP expires in early May. (I wonder if they do this on purpose?!)

Although the food offerings were okay, the classes were nice. If you attend any of the wine tasting classes, you'll need to be ready in line at least 60 minutes in advance. And if there's a champagne and chocolate class, you'll need to be in line 90 minutes in advance. It seems like a lot of wasted time, but you do get to meet a lot of other really nice people!

this year it does start on the 24th of April. so if you get a chance that last week of April, you can still make it That first week, just happens to coincide with the reason we'll be in California. When we were at WDW last year for their food and wine festival, the dates for California's were on the back of the info brochure. I had to look at it several times to realize that the dates were about when my cousins wedding was taking place!

I know that its going to be so much smaller, but I also am getting the impression its more about the wine than the food, which is ok with me, I love wine, lol. I am willing to wait in line to have some wine related fun!

Hope you do get the chance to go back and enjoy since it souded like you had fun last year!

They keep adding new info on the Disneyland site, such as this:

Quote:
Online registration for Signature Events starts February 24, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Please check back as we will be updating our schedule.
A couple of hosts have been announced. Because it it on such a small scale - compared to WDW which we love, love, love - there isn't much to choose from on any one weekend - the events are so spread out. Still, we'd like to experience it once. We'll probably sign up for one of the food & wine pairing dinners. And then be so bummed we'll book a trip to WDW for the F&W Festival.
