Coffee

Okay... I just realized that I need the answer to a very important question. Where can I get a cup of coffee between the Disneyland Hotel & the main gates that ISN'T Nescafe'?

I'll suffer through it if I have to but I'd rather just have a plain cup of coffee that's from some decent beans.

As you walk from the Disneyland Hotel to Downtown Disney, one of the first shops at DTD you'll see on your right is the Compass bookstore. It has a coffee bar attached to it. I don't know what kind of coffee they serve there, but I've had it many times and found it to be ok.

If you're going to walk through DTD and enter at the main gates instead of the monorail, you'll pass a few more food places that serve coffee, including La Brea Bakery which is the last shop at DTD before you get to the main gates. I've never had their coffee, so I can't really comment on its drinkability.

Doesn't the Compass Bookstore serve Peets Coffee? I may be wrong about that. Peets Coffee is a wide chain of stores. It is like Starbucks. But I like Starbucks a lot more. The coffee is not as bitter as Peets. Good luck.

Oh, I can drink Peet's! Peet's Sumatra isn't bad at all. Their coffee usually has less body and is a milder roast than SBUX, but I know it's a good quality. We'll be walking through DTD every morning so that will be super! Thank you

Scott! Ok, you should've known I'd comment on a coffee question, right?

Next time I'm at Compass, I'll ask what they serve. I too like Starbucks more than Peets, but whatever they serve at Compass always serves its purpose!

Am I dreaming or is there a little Starbuck's cart in Downtown Disney? We didn't have any problem finding good coffee elsewhere so we never stopped. But we did go to Compass Books and La Brea Bakery.

The DW and I don't like the coffee at Rainforest Cafe. They serve what we call 8 to 10 packet of sugar coffee and then it isn't enough so we bring along our own flavored creamers. That does seem to help some. Two other places who have 'bad' coffee are IHOP and DENNY'S, across Harbor from the maingate. If you go into DL and eat at the Carnation Cafe, ask for coffee flavoring. That REALLY helps.

I'm pretty snobby about my coffee. It was my profession for awhile. LOL! For medical reasons I can't do flavored, so I have to rely on good beans and nice blends.

It good to know though that I'll have a couple of choices.

I may have been wrong about the Starbuck's in DD but Rich says it's in DCA. We did have a yummy cappuccino there one morning. You'll find the good stuff somewhere - you just may have to look for it.

I'm here in Disneyland and checked out the Coffee situation last night. The coffee at Compass Books isn't bad at all, it's a fresh brewed french roast that's fairlt tastey. In addition La Brea Cafe DOES serve Starbucks. Whooo hooo!
