On our upcoming trip we are staying at the Grand Californian, which is fairly central in relation to the parks and downtown Disney. We were thinking of going to Downtown Disney for breakfast one morning, and I was wondering if we should eat at La Brea or if there is a better place to grab breakfast?

It depends what you're looking for. We love buffets and table service meals and I don't think you can beat the PCH Grill at Paradise Pier. Storyteller's Cafe at the Grand Californian was also great for breakfast.

You can also eat breakfast at the GCH's White Water Snacks, they have great breakfast foods. You can also get breakfast at the Jazz Kitchen Express in DTD.

We love La Brea Bakery Cafe - the bread is to die for - and you can sit outside at a table with an umbrella. You can either grab something at the counter service or do the sitdown restaurant - we loved both!

No suggestions here. I either get something at whatever restaurant is close to my hotel before going to the parks or grab something at the bakery on Main Street and find a spot to sit and people watch while I eat.

Depends how quick a breakfast you want. For real quick, do White Water or get beignets and coffee at the Jazz Kitchen QS. Next step up is La Brea take out. If you want a sit down, the places mentioned above work. If you want to walk a little, Denny's, IHOP, and McD's are on Harbor Blvd.

I got beignets for dessert one night this summer and DH liked them so much I may be able to convince him that we need to swing by there for breakfast one morning. OR, I can convince him we should get Mickey beignets in Cafe Orleans!

I don't know what it is called but we grabbed a HUGE cinnamon bun and the BEST COFFEE on Main Street it had an open air sitting side and connected to I think a place to get icecream?? it is on the left side when you walk down Main Street Would love the name so I can put it on the list of must do's My DH was very excited about the cinnamon bun My sister told me they use to do a great breakfast at the restaurant right across from Indiana Jones and sort of infront of Tarzan's tree house Do they do Mickey face waffles anymore years ago I remember having them

The bakery on Main Street is the Blue Ribbon Bakery and it is indeed connected to an ice cream parlor which is hosted by Nestle and called Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor.

Sounds like you are looking for something good. LaBrea is very good. I love their coffee. As others have mentioned their breads are great (so is their bacon). We do at least one sit-down breakfast there. The quality is really excellent! Storyteller's in the Grand Californian is also great for brunch (it's a character dining experience). Another good place for any meal is Millie's. It's on Harbor, right across from the park and about a block to the left. We always have great service there and the food is also great. I had a waffle last time and it was delicious, and HUGE! I would avoid IHOP. We went there once and the prices are ridiculous and the quality does not compare with the other places mentioned here.

All of these places have good breakfasts but there is one downtown location everyone missed or are not aware serves breakfast and that is the Catal Restaurant just around the corner from the north enterance to DTD from the CGR.

2010dlt, is the place you thinking about that has the 'bun' by chance the Carnation Cafe? We eat breakfast there first think everytime and if you want great cheerful service, ask for BOB.

revral and w-steel I am not sure if it is the Blue Ribbon but it is on the right hand side when you are walking to the castle and lord it was yummy Does anyone know if those Mickey face waffles could be served at the character breakfast? my kids would flip if that was true

Which character breakfast?

We have done the one at Storyteller's Cafe and there were little Mickey waffles on the serving line there.

Also, last time I was at DL, I had a cinnamon roll half the size of my head and it was at Blue Ribbon Bakery. They call it the "Really Big Cinnamon Roll" on the menu.

I also had a tasty Mickey waffle at Carnation Cafe. They have both the big Mickey waffle (on the adult breakfast menu) as well as mini Mickey waffles on the kids' menu.

Carnation Cafe also offers the "Really Big Cinnamon Roll" on their menu, but that is table service, whereas Blue Ribbon Bakery is counter service. They charge 50 cents more for it at Carnation Cafe though, plus you have to leave a tip . . . I would just go get it at the Bakery unless the rest of my party wanted a sit down breakfast.

I think there is some confusion here. First of all, we are talking about Disneyland, right? While walking down Main Street, from the Railrood Station to the Sleeping Beauty Castle, there is only one place on the right hand side of Main Street to eat and that is the Plaza Inn. I do believe that the 'outdoor' dining area you are talking about is on the left hand side of the 'street' and is call the Carnation Cafe and is located next to the Blue Ribbon Bakery. I believe that every character breakfast serves the 'mickey' waffles. I know for sure that the Plaza Inn, Story Tellers and Goofy's Kitchen all serve them as I have eaten them there.
