Monte Cristo Sandwich Question

The Monte Cristo Sandwich is one of my favorites and I plan on having one while I am in the parks. Is there a difference in the sandwich at the Blue Bayou vs the Cafe Orleans?

Nope! No difference! :

Oh my heck . . . I love the Monte Cristo. Can't go wrong with a ham and turkey sandwich wrapped up in a funnel cake!

Yummy! You can't forget the raspberry jelly to spread on the top.

You might want to double-check, when you make your ressie, though. AllEars.net has menus and it looks like it's only on the lunch menu. I doubt there's a difference between the two restaurants (though atmosphere and ambiance could affect how something "tastes"). Also, remember that Cafe Orleans also serves a breakfast french toast version of the Monte Cristo....

I've had both and they're the same. They had some other varieties at the Cafe Orleans, and they were tasty, but none as delish as the original, imho. I also have had the Monte Cristo at Blue Bayou for dinner. It wasn't on the menu, but all I had to do was ask.

I have heard of it - but never had one. Is it more sweet or savory?

Both really but it leans towards sweet with the raspberry jelly on it and the
powdered sugar on top.

It's heavenly! I dip mine in the raspberry for a little sweet taste and then savor the whole thing.

See, I don't use the jelly (not fond of berries) . . . but I feel the powdered sugar gives it just the right amount of sweetness but not so much that it is overly sweet.

Ugh . . . I am SO going to have to make these now. Where'd I put that recipe?

ETA: I can't recall for sure but I think the jelly that was served with it (at least at one time) was blackberry. It may have been changed to raspberry more recently but I think it was blackberry a couple of years ago. Not that the jelly flavor matters, though. The official Disney recipe calls for blackberry jelly/jam for the side . . . but we skip it.

If they took it off of the menu at BB then it must have been done very recently.

It was still there as of May when Deb updated her menus and mid-June when a friend of mine was in DL for a weekend. She had her first one . . . she HAD to rub it in my face . . . not literally, of course.

As of right now, it is still on both the menus for Cafe Orleans and Blue Bayou on AllEars . . . the last time the menus there for the DL eateries were updated was late May 2009.

I also have confirmation that Blue Bayou's was still there as of mid-June.
