Thumbs up Ghiradelli Soda Fountain is open at DCA

We went today and Ghiradelli Soda Fountain is now open. Wow... everything looks so good. I had a Nob Hill Shake... the cup is coated with hot fudge and then filled with a chocolate shake with mini chocolate chips. Jessica had a mint Quake Shake... she didn't like it. Just too minty. I think it was mint ice cream blended with a chocolate bar. We were able to exchange it for a regular chocolate shake. That was very good and also very very sweet.... almost sickening sweet. Jessica also got the chocolate Golden Gate Bridge.

Can't wait to try some of the other items. They all look incredible. They also sell regular choclate bars etc there.

Yes As you walk (or scoot) in, they hand you a chocolate square. The package is pre opened. I didn't know that and threw my chocolate away since it was opened. Silly me..lol

If there is one thing in this world (and only one thing) that I will give a pass to when it comes to replacing my beloved Mission Tortilla Factory, it is Ghirardelli chocolate.

We did go back. Got another chocolate sample. That is when the CM informed us that they were pre opened. This is also when we got our shakes. We will go back each visit for our samples. Of course we get our bread samples at Boudin first.

I love the chocolate samples, but honestly I really loved those fresh warm tortillas - especially on the rare occasions when they handed out corn tortillas. I guess I'll have to have a sundae to overcome my sorrow.....sigh.....
